How come? It's NOT like Republicans CONTINUE to Block Legislation that would END the Things people HATE! Like the War!

We live near Western NC, and this area was hit hard by the hurricane two years ago, and is still trying to rebuild.
Trump was there a couple of weeks ago threatening to not provide the rest of the Fema funding they're expecting if his candidate didn't get elected in the mid term. Even for the level of backwoods chud that would still show up at a Trump event, they weren't happy with that.
What a way to win the hearts and minds of your constituents… by threatening them.
What a fucking douchebag.
Get ready. After the Midterms, theit next objective is to end elections, because otherwise, they'll be going to prison after 2028. It won't be about winning hearts & minds, it will be about establishing FEAR, so expect not only threats, but vicious violence.
Allegedly there's a cadre of his inner circle that's already pushing to establish martial law and cancel the midterms.
Wouldn't surprise me if that's Hegseth and Miller.
*1, maybe 2 of them will see a couple years of prison.
Source: 2021.
2029 isn't going to be like 2021, precisely because nothing happened after 2021. The losers who were running the Dem Congress back then have spawned an entirely new progressive movement that is going to be a major influence on the next Dem congress.
We are done suffering the incompetence and evil of Corporate Politicians. If the Corpo-Establishment Dems don't go along with what the Citizens want, they will find themselves in the hole with the MAGAs, being treated the same way.
Georgia is a (decreasingly) Republican state, but not a MAGA state. The governor, who prominently refused to go along with Trump's 2020 election lies, got primaried by a Trump-nut, who lost like 3-1. The GOP candidate for Senate is one of the Trumpiest politicians in Georgia (now that MTG jumped ship). I'd really like to think this could be one of the last battles in the GOP civil war., but going all-in on Trump in Georgia was definitely a bad plan, even before the leopard started eating their faces.
Not to mention, the Democratic candidate is the incumbent! Georgia is a supposedly "red state" but both Senators are blue (which basically saved the entire Senate in 2020 -- y'all're welcome).
Thank you! I remember watching the election results come in for Georgia in 2020. Very grateful for the work of Stacey Abrams and for Georgia going blue.
I get that, but we really need to declare the Republican Party to be as dead as the Whigs. Republicans were just the larval stage before they morphed into their final form: MAGA. I'm not giving them the gift of deniability. They're all MAGAs now, and they'll all face the same reckoning.
The governor that self-certified his own election and then illegally destroyed the ballots even though the courts told him he couldn’t? But for some reason he’s in office and not prison?
That's the one. He's not MAGA, but he's still Republican.
Fun history of Georgia: as recently as 1998, Georgia elected a Democratic governor, and Democrats regularly won state-wide offices. In the wake of the 2000 fiasco, when everyone suddenly went to electronic ballots, Georgia chose a system with no paper trail, and no Democrat won a state-wide race for nearly 2 decades. Then, in 2020, they changed voting systems to one that includes a paper trail, and Democrats immediately won both Senate seats. The Republicans have never won a Georgia Senate race that included paper records.
Yes, the person who has no sense of basic ethics.
His ethics aside, what the fuck are the courts doing?
Sorry, in which context?
In the context of him blatantly rigging an election and destroying the evidence in defiance of a court order? How did nothing come of that?
But what does that have to do with this article?
Lemmy is a threaded conversation platform. The thread we have been participating in started here.
Yeah still no clue why you’re talking about the courts right now
"Law and order? Sorry, best I can give you is sea linoing."
Maybe they should've stuck to their campaign promises like no new wars and addressing the cost-of-living crisis by making things affordable.
Instead they
- Started a whole new middle-eastern forever war
- Claim there is no cost-of-living crisis as it gets objectively worst
- Tariffed everything so shit got way more expensive and even when they get ruled illegal the money is just refunded to the corporations who don't pass it on back to the customers
No shit you're unpopular with voters.
Throw in a 4. All-in on trans bathrooms/sports terrors to try and work up the base, yet people are starting to see that it’s just not that important to them compared to 2.
Shhh, keep it on the low till they lose
Roy’s our boy in NC. No chance the pedophiles are going to win here, but they will certainly try to ratfuck the results
If they try to fuck with the votes, we shut it down like COVID
I may hate that he’s an pro-Israel AIPAC shill, but he stood up for queer rights and reproductive rights in a state dominated by the GOP and a sizable Bible thumping, reactionary rural population. He handled COVID eons more compentently than Trump did.
For the non- Carolinians: We have a good-enough governor right now (Stein) and our AG is great. The AG (Jeff Jackson) actually stepped down from his congressional seat to run for AG, and got it.
Unfortunately, Stein has been stripped of many of his powers by the legislature, making him one of the weakest governors.
They pretty much gave up on North Carolina.
The NCDNC has no fight in them. I live in Tim Moore's district and they have not done anything to support his opponent. That little shit goblin could be pushed out but Womack gets nothing. I don't even know how she is running. The NCDNC gave up any fight when Heath Shular stepped aside for Mark Meadows. If it is not an easy seat the DNC just throws up their hands and cries oh well.
I feel like people are realizing if the dems aren’t taking this seriously they can just run their own candidate and force them onto the dems. Didn’t Georgia do something like that?
In Florida, Angi Dixon is neck & neck with her MAGA opponent. MAGA is trying to position her as a Commie, because she joined the DSA. But the only reason she joined the DSA is because the DNC wouldn't support her in the primary, and the DSA would. She didn't like all of their positions, but they overlapped with her priorities, so she went with them, and then WON her primary.
Now MAGA is savaging her as a Commie, saying "She actually signed up for this!" But she's not really a DemSoc, she just accepted their help in the primary because the Dems wouldn't.
It doesn't matter anyway, Florida elections are fully rigged. Even if she gets more votes, Florida MAGAs will challenge enough votes in Democratic counties, and toss them out, until they have a fraction of a lead, and then call the race for the MAGA. That's how DeSantis and Scott got elected by a sliver of a fraction of a point. Florida's elections need to be heavily investigated.
Nate Silver has both Georgia and North Carolina solidly D in the deluxe (D+10.3, D+8.8) and classic (D+9.4, D+8.3) models

Never forget "Kamala will win Iowa by +14 points" and "Hillary has a 98% chance of winning" whenever you see a poll.
You're in this shitty situation right now because lots and lots of apathetic people believed the polls and didn't bother to vote. We know cause the day after Kamala lost you know what search term trended? "How to vote after election day."
What about the Florida special election?
Moody (R) wins 86.8% of the scenarios
Good.
Republican senators like North Carolina Sen. Thom Tillis, said it was time for the party to make some tough decisions about spending.
Yeah maybe we can start with pressuring state legislators to spend the half a billion dollars for private school vouchers on public education instead. Or maybe stop spending $1.5 trillion a year on military bloat and genocide.
Good.
I sure as fuck hope so
I wish….
It’s not true. But, I wish it were.
Republican candidates can't compete with Cooper and Ossof. They both get huge bipartisan support. In 2016 people had Trump flags and Roy Cooper flags on their houses.
Fear the October Surprise. Republicans are better at it than we are.
More copium for the masses. I would bet real money that they’re not fearing shit. They own our government like it’s property. The entire thing is rigged. They’re just playing along so as not to stir things up.
Watch when the elections are held. They will sweep the floor with the left because the left doesn’t know how to play the game, let alone win.
I get it, but I haven't lost all hope. Yet.
The polymarket odds are 63% chance the Dems flip the Senate.
My dog said it's actually 23% and that polymarket has underestimated the influence of frisbees in this election.
