AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

The band Muse has surrendered its Instagram and X handles to Meta after the release of its new AI agent, Muse.

The English rock band Muse has been renamed on Instagram and X from “Muse” to “museband.”

Despite the band Muse having had its Instagram account since 2012 and its X account since 2008, it has seemingly surrendered the handle to Mark Zuckerberg’s newest AI agent.

Here's an idea, stop using Instagram and it will die.

Come at me.

I'm starting to see the benefits of these federated services

Just fucking ewww why they need to use and taint such general words with their filthy hands.

Capitalism and capitalists are the root of all evil. In socialist country it would be called "Yopeaiag 242" and be perfectly fine.

"Your personal AI agent that gets things done" must be this year's most uttered phrase.
I've yet to see it amount to much.

My work said last month that we need to use more AI. This week, they said to use the cheapest model and be more conservative. They also say to not trust the output without verifying it. Okay, then, wouldn't it be faster if I just did the work myself? And more accurate.

[–] DrSoap@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

Fortune favors the fools.

[–] dellish@lemmy.world 22 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

You know who else gets things done? Me. I do them for myself, because I'm a functioning adult.

But if you do everything yourself then how will they steal your data? :(

[–] Dozzi92@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago (2 children)

I dunno, my buddy just set up cameras on his property and use Claude to write code to help them identify things (animals, his lawn mower, people), and then had Claude help him write a mobile app. I'm as anti-AI as it gets, but people absolutely use it and get value out of it.

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 4 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

Wow good thing he used Claude to do that because that definitely doesn't exist in any free and open source capacity already lol

[–] LiveLM@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

I was more talking about the OpenClaw / This new Meta thing vertent of "Personal Agent" were you log all your accounts into it and it just "does things for you" on its own versus using AI to create an app.

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

My coworker was bragging about his AI agent automating a very tedious task for him... I've automated this task as well....with a python script. Works instantly, consistently, and doesn't need to connect to the Internet...

[–] bagsy@lemmy.world 4 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Maybe, but you have to hand over the keys to your entire digital life in order to let it try. What kind of idiot would give Fuckerburg access to every part of their life to make scheduling appointments a tiny bit easier?

[–] Funkt4st1c@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

But theyre also less accurate!

The (not) secret is that the thing they're getting done is mining you for data. :D

[–] OpenPassageways@programming.dev 46 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Probably Meta paid them off. I bet the band wasn't even involved, probably Meta negotiated with the marketing division of the record label.

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 3 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Every one of those sites reserved the right to take your username for any reason. They don't need to pay them off, it's in the user agreement

[–] Daft_ish@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 23 minutes ago

As if pr isn't a thing

[–] Kiernian@lemmy.world 226 points 11 hours ago (31 children)

"Surrendered" is only applicable if the band had a choice.

Remember folks, calling out shitty wording is necessary to defeat propoganda.

[–] nilloc@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

I bet they got paid, but don’t want to disclose that. I hope it was enough to be worth it, and would be hilarious if they announced leaving the platform after the checks clear, but they probably won’t.

I never realized how crooked Zuck's nose is.

[–] Phil_in_here@lemmy.ca 7 points 4 hours ago

His nose is perfectly straight. Its the rest of him thats crooked.

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 5 points 5 hours ago

You've at least seen how fucked up in the head he is right?

[–] very_well_lost@lemmy.world 15 points 7 hours ago

The nose all those smart glasses wearing perverts deserve after being repeatedly punched in the face.

[–] Damage@feddit.it 4 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Didn't he take up some fighting sport? maybe that's a consequence

[–] orenj@leminal.space 9 points 6 hours ago

Hope he receives more consequences

[–] motruck@lemmy.zip 16 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

This is what you get when you use their platform. If muse and others used something they could control with their identity this wouldn't be a problem.

[–] gwl@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 5 hours ago

They don't actually use fbook/insta, you know that right?

It's a marketing tool for the band, that's all.

Honestly, I doubt any of the band have personal accounts on any social media

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago

Clearly, Zuckerbot and Little Elon can do whatever they want in their businesses. I'm sure Elon had no problem handing it over.

[–] Sanctus@anarchist.nexus 162 points 12 hours ago (11 children)

Not to defend rich people, but the dude who had X since the beginning of time just had it taken from him. I assume the same thing happened here. They just woke up and were suddenly muse band. Mostly because I dont see Meta or any tech company ever asking for shit nowadays. Just smash and grab.

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 10 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

If they post something saying that, I 100% believe it. If not, I'm assuming they sold it.

[–] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 3 points 6 hours ago

Ya, given zuck doesnt own X the most probable answer is they cut a big fat cheque. Im sure we'll find out soon enough either way.

Having the handle since 2008 and still not owning it says everything. Your account is only yours until the platform wants it back.

[–] oce@jlai.lu 40 points 11 hours ago (3 children)

I guess their time was running out.

[–] slaacaa@lemmy.world 6 points 8 hours ago

Yes, it’s all just hysteria

They could have just used 'museagent' for the new slop account and left Muse alone.

[–] AdolfSchmitler@lemmy.world 6 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Literally just call it "MuseAI".

If I had a prize to give, you would get it for that one

Just like the Gemini protocol vs Google Gemini.
