Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Good, tear down the monuments already built for him when he dies

[–] modus@lemmy.world 1 points 11 minutes ago

Dried, crusted santorum found caked around glory holes shall be referred to as Trump.

[–] Alexfire@lemmy.world 3 points 28 minutes ago

We hope his name will vanish asap but many will have shrines to him, indoctrinated.

Misinformation,

Childlike common clay masses,

Like free heroin

[–] Clayhopper@lemmy.ca 3 points 32 minutes ago

Will cenotaphs for his victims not count?

[–] betanumerus@lemmy.ca 1 points 22 minutes ago* (last edited 20 minutes ago)

So he agrees he's a terrible president.

[–] sportsjorts@lemmy.zip 3 points 51 minutes ago

I’ll piss on his grave.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 7 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

When he's out of office, Congress should pass a.lw.that it's illegal to name anything after Trump, EXCEPT: Sewage Treatment Plants.

Then people who live near the plants can say things like "WOW, Trump is especially stinky today. Trump stinks much worse than usual."

[–] GardenGeek@europe.pub 3 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

That way you insult sewage plants which are important to keep out environment clean for everyone and actually clean things up instead of making a mess... both things do not really fit Trumps behavior.

[–] girthero@lemmy.world 2 points 39 minutes ago

Plus John Oliver already did that

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 1 points 47 minutes ago

Damnatio memoriae would be more apt.

[–] SomeRandomNoob@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 52 minutes ago

gee, i wonder why

[–] dermanus@lemmy.ca 21 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

That's more perceptive than I'd give him credit for.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

There should be a monument to Trump. USA needs a constant reminder of the danger of populists and Fascists. I suggest a huge public toilet.

[–] 777Prawn@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 hour ago

Ask around salt the civil war statues.

[–] Mr_Dr_Oink@lemmy.world 7 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

His death will be pretty monumental.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 3 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

The MAGAs are going to be all pissed off when we celebrate! I can't wait to laugh on the sobbing faces.

Then they'll all start screaming at the Pope to make him a saint. I can't wait to see the pope's reaction to that.

[–] Mr_Dr_Oink@lemmy.world 1 points 38 minutes ago

We should find a sewer somewhere and name it after trump and put a statue of him there.

Trump Memorial Septic Field has a nice ring to it.

[–] bhamlin@lemmy.world 5 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

For solids too. Equity in waste, of course.

[–] yggstyle@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

That is absolutely not true. I'll personally be campaigning to see that he is entombed under Centralia, Pennsylvania... and then renaming the town to trumpsville. He always did like his name on things. It would only seem fitting to charge people to visit it... just like he would want.

Its the perfect monument. Poetic even. It only seems right to cast a demon into proverbial hell -in- earth... in a place where "corruption" destroyed society. Most yuuuuge monument ever. And honestly? Its win win. I figure eventually the fire will be put out from all the people coming to piss on his grave. The proceeds can benifit the homeless and starving... I call it "trickle" down economics. After all: aren't we due some winning?

Shit it'd probably be the closest he ever came to telling the truth.

[–] Tango@piefed.ca 24 points 5 hours ago (5 children)

The sad thing is that that's probably not true.

Good. Let's start that phase as soon as possible

[–] Leviathan@fedinsfw.app 14 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

As a matter of fact people will immediately tear down any he builds for himself when he's gone.

[–] Nalivai@lemmy.world 5 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Confederate statues still exist, so I doubt it. America is addicted to worshiping people who dedicate their lives to destroying it.

[–] Squirrelknight@lemmy.world 9 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Confederate generals didn't build those. The Jim Crow South did a hundred years later to piss on the civil rights movement.

[–] 3abas@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 17 minutes ago)

What's your point? If they built it in their time, the Jim Crow south would have destroyed them a hundred years earlier?

[–] hrafnagud@infosec.pub 4 points 4 hours ago

He might be right from a logical point of view but, unfortunately, there are enough similar lunatics left anyway that will carry on his weird agenda… 🤷🏼‍♂️

[–] Tylerdurdon@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago

I'm memorial, I will get all my brown Legos together for the biggest...

Oh we will build monuments, but they will be in celebration of his death. Like a monument pile of maga trash then burned, or a monument pile of champagne bottles we will be popping.

[–] hanrahan@slrpnk.net 15 points 9 hours ago

here I am agreeing with Trump, what a day!

[–] Avicenna@programming.dev 3 points 6 hours ago

you got that right

[–] finallymadeanaccount@lemmy.world 3 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

From https://www.youngpioneertours.com/the-surreal-grave-of-pol-pot/

Upon his death, his body and possessions were transferred to a site in Anlong Veng where they were put into a pyre and burnt along Buddhist principles. Quite ironic when you consider the treatment given to the buddhists by the government of Democratic Kampuchea. There is a video of the aftermath of his funeral on YouTube. It is quite surreal to see one of the most notorious killers of the 20th century being burned with his toilet …

Trump has a gold toilet. Just sayin' ...

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 1 points 41 minutes ago

Melt it down and make him drink it.

[–] ace_garp@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

Diggin' in the crates of dictator deaths.

Thanks for this rabbit hole.

[–] Arancello@aussie.zone 3 points 7 hours ago

Start building monuments to Vance. Now.
