For those who haven't seen it, the first season is great and works perfectly fine stand-alone (plus his name isn't Peter Parker so they aren't bound by Marvel's character restrictions)

On the bright side, Season 1 told largely a complete story with just a few loose threads left, so fans will not be left hanging too much by the cancellation.

Seems like the story are made to be just 1 season, so it's mostly not "cancelled" instead it's not renewed. Which is good i guess, lot of series start off great but take a nose dive after a few seasons, and unplanned season usually sucks anyway.

I'm fine with it being one season. Good shows don't need to be beaten into the ground.

Do you even capitalism?

[–] popcar2@piefed.ca 9 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Canceled? I thought it was a limited series. Did they even have plans for season 2?

[–] Ilandar@lemmy.today 2 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

They usually leave the door open these days just in case.

Yeah, I have to assume "cancelled" is just poor choice of words.

i didn't even know this was out

[–] Brkdncr@lemmy.world 11 points 20 hours ago

Dang. I thought it was fun and crazy.

The artifice of it didn’t work for me. It felt like it was imitating the aesthetic motions, and not necessarily doing them earnestly.

It is just a comic book show, yeah. But I couldn’t get past that vibe.

WTF Fuck you Prime Video!

Am I the only one that thinks Nick Cage can't act? Every time he's on screen, his face or aura just gives me the impression he's being incredibly sarcastic about acting. Not the character, the acting. It's weird to me. Idk. Hot take?

Him and The Rock give me the same vibes. Just can't shake it.

[–] belated_frog_pants@beehaw.org 2 points 2 hours ago

He was quite good in this

I appreciate Cage more than The Rock, he loves taking on these weird scripts and generally has more personality.

But yeah, he's not a fantastic actor. He has a very specific, somewhat sarcastic style. Whenever I see him, I don't see them character he's meant to portray, I see the actor playing a role.

You’re not the only one. Community did a whole bit on his acting career:

I loved this show. It was maybe Coppola's best role yet.

[–] jaschen306@sh.itjust.works 2 points 17 hours ago

I felt like the ending was a bit weak, but I really enjoyed the lighting and camera work.

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 2 points 18 hours ago

Also maybe because Nicolas Cage is expensive.

[–] CMDR_Horn@lemmy.world 1 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah it’s was shit. Full of false shadows to make the impression that it was a « real » film noir.
