I remember who I am. Not a fucking Nazi

I remember in the 1990s when I was fairly young, and I was having a discussion with other people, and I kept saying the Republican Party was a fascist party, and I remember one of the people in the discussion taking me aside afterward and telling me that I couldn't say that(not because it wasn't true, but) because people would get offended.

I remember after the September 11 attack, that they named the department for the country's security "The Department of Homeland Security" and I had extreme concerns about their intentions by naming it that. I could see what they were moving toward, even back then.

Also like, we famously have very many heritages.

"Quit calling us Nazis!"

We sure as fuck don't have one people or one heritage. We're a melting pot and the fascists are just the burnt crust around the edge of the pot that should be scrubbed the fuck off.

Yeah, chillingly similar to hitler's ideas:

At my old job, there was some back and forth about some feature detail. The product lady messaged me and said "do you have a few minutes to talk about the final solution?"

I was like, "uhh you mean the sorting filter on the projects page? Yes, so long as we don't call it the final solution"

I don't know if she knows that phrase already has a history

This lead me asking a bunch of coworkers if they knew. About half were familiar.

Keith Sonderling is the trump appointed Sec of Labor, who built his career as a vicious lawyer representing management in high profile labor disputes. He's spent his time at the DOL dismantling protections for minorities and women.

This slogan is obviously Nazi talk. The Nazi phrase in its entirety however would translate as "One Empire. One People. One Leader". "Homeland" is close enough but they apparently shied away from going all the way down to "one leader".

They just quote the nazis at this point.

You mean the sons and daughters of immigrants? People who invaded and stole land from the people who were already living here? People who murdered and slaughtered innocent women and children for two centuries in order to legitimize our ownership of said land?

Aren't we all blocking US federal departments from our feeds as far right spam these days? No? Just me?

The GOP under Dubya tried to make "homeland" part of everyday speech back in 2001, but in spite of naming a govt agency after it, it never really caught on.

They messed up the order and got the last one wrong ...

Huh? Why is the DOL spouting this kind of message?

Interesting choice for a nation of mostly immigrants

To be American is to hate authority to the extent that we have amendments to the Constitution that guarantee us the right to own and use arms against our own government in case it becomes corrupt and works against the American people.

We don't have any heritage, or any one culture.

You can come from anywhere and be an American as long as you hate authority and recognize that you have the right to violently oppose it
