That is one of the worst names I've seen...
And I say this as someone who played the US version of RollerCoaster Tycoon and saw the localization team at MicroProse renamed the Launched Freefall ride the "Whoa Belly."
This is a place to share greentexts and witness the confounding life of Anon. If you're new to the Greentext community, think of it as a sort of zoo with Anon as the main attraction.
Be warned:
If you find yourself getting angry (or god forbid, agreeing) with something Anon has said, you might be doing it wrong.

There's a bakery close to where I live that I used to get stuff from regularly. One of the things I liked had a really cringeworthy pun as a name, though, so I just said something along the lines of "the one with ham and eggs". I regularly got asked "so one [cringeworthy pun]?" At some point I said, "yes, the one with the cringeworthy name". The employee (who seemed to be a more senior employee) said I should use the product names because it would apparently confuse the apprentices otherwise. When I said that it's just too cringeworthy she started saying things like "no one else will notice that it's cringeworthy" and going in the direction of "come on, you can do it". Well, I don't go there anymore.
EDIT: since a number of people are commenting on my use of the word "cringeworthy": for one there are a number of places where it's fairly normal to use that word (and I mean IRL), and for another this happened in a different language.
UK here, I'd say cringeworthy is a pretty normal word. Or at least it was before kids dropped the second half of the word.
In my books, without the second half of the word it's a verb, and not an adjective or noun. But maybe I'm just getting old.
we had "cringy"
It's a verb, adjective or noun. Whatever you want it to be, it's that! A bit of everything at the same time.
I would likely do the same to be honest, Customer experience is huge when it comes to stuff like that. I don't care what your corporate overlords or your management wants. If what your management wants leads to me feeling uncomfortable spending my money there, I'm not going to spend my money there.
In my opinion, I think it's more than fair to be able to describe what you're looking for or point your finger at a menu item and have that be sufficient.
Right? Having the employee repeat it back in their internal words is fine and tells the customer they've been heard correctly, but you don't need to make then customer jump through hoops.
Coffee shop I go to used to do the Italian thing. Then they switched to small/medium/large. They finally settled on just listing the volume on the menu.
The entire time you could just say any of them and they knew what you meant.
If they have no idea what you meant they can ask for clarification. They even have the cups right next to the register they can hold up and confirm.
Turns out not pissing people off is often as easy as "asking for clarification if needed". Also offering free espresso occasionally helps.
Oh yeah, firm agree, like the employee should definitely be able to clarify that they understood what you wanted properly, but it shouldn't require the customer having to use whatever internal lingo that the establishment decided they wanted to call a bagel or, in your case what they wanted to call sizes of the beverage. I've actually had a similar issue with Starbucks because our somewhat local one did that and I haven't gone back since.
Well now I have to know what the pun was, if it was so bad
Turns to kitchen: "Six fruits in a comfy, chef!"
joke's on them. I was assigned the name Ruth at birth, so "rooty tooty fresh n fruity" is just one of my many names in rotation
When I was a kid I was low-key obsessed with Friendly's, but I refused to say "Fribble"
When I was a kid we had to stop eating at Friendly's cause our server was gay, I mean it's not like he told us this but my mom had an inkling. I want a cone head :(
That's the worst reason 💀. My mom would do the exact same thing
Is your mom still a piece of shit to this day, or have her beliefs changed with the times?
Either way I’m sorry you had to grow up around bigotry like that
Mostly better
For those of us not familiar with the region you’re from: what’s Friendly’s and what’s a “Fribble”?
My first job was at friendlys, and in case you still miss them sometimes, a fribble is just a regular milkshake made with soft serve (so just soft serve, syrup, and milk).
I'm more a French Toast kinda guy.
f the waffle people. bastards, all of them.
pancake folk, I don't know, just don't talk to me and we're good.
I see you don't take any crêpe.
Absolutely incredible to see a 4chan rendition of a joke from the Christian comedy special "Bananas". Surprisingly less homophobic too
ihop don't fuck around. you will say the words or go hungry.
Funny meme and all but if a restaurant decides to do this and refuses to listen to anything but the ridiculous name for the food, then I won't be eating there. You know what I want, either give it to me or we're done here. There's plenty of other restaurants and this one isn't going to miss my $10 today.
Meanwhile me at Dennys: ILL HAVE THE MOONS OVER MY HAMMY PLEASE so loud the entire restaurant can hear it
Now, have the server say it like it's actually food.
You gotta say it like a cowboy while firing a six-shooter into the air hollerin' "yeehaw" afterward.
I try to never say the names places have. I totally relate to this.
I always say them, in an obnoxiously over the top advertisy voice. I guess some people are just different 🤷🏼♂️
the what ?
Ok, I’ll take 2 eggs with toast and bacon…
One _Moons Over My Hammy_®, coming up!
Say the name in a weird tone - my pick would probably be chuuni or heavily implied subtext - and make THEM embarrassed instead
They work customer service, they're all dead inside.
If I pointed out an item on a menu and someone asked to read a ridiculous name or loud I'd walk right out. Here in Germany I can't imagine anything like that ever happening. Don't know about the US, of course, but even there that seems far-fetched.
For real? German bakeries do this all the time. It's a fucking Kürbiskernbrötchen, why do they all feel like they have to invent their own bullshit influencer name for it? Chances are 9 out of 10 get them from the same factory even.
