Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

I wonder what he'll say.

Maybe if people didn't like it they'd have given them any power. Hmm

Maybe if the dem leaders cared about the voters issues and didnt support genocide they'd have some power.

Party leadership would rather everyone live under fascism than do either.

He's just going to lie about it some more

The military is a large voting block...

Traditionally it goes R, because they expand the military, which means more people get promotions.

But I guarantee everyone in the Navy and Marines know what's happening, and that trump doesn't give a fuck.

Air Force is basically an evangelical death cult at this point, and who knows about army since they're not deployed.

But Republicans will likely lose the military in midterms over this.

It absolutely should be brought up more, every time he lies, he loses military votes. And a lot of military members are still eligible to vote in the small red states they came from. And their friends and family know how they're treated too.

This isn't "war" and it's justifiable, they're just sitting there

I really hope all the vets get behind this too, and aren't like

"These new kids must be coddled and squishy, back in my day we'd do 563 days at sea, and battle scurvy outbreaks! And arm wrestle giant squids! Republicans are just tough on these soft kids yarrr."

But in seriousness, I think they'll finally recognize the complete lack of respect in return for their service. This admin has always loudly called them disposable, but this might just tip them.

Nah, 9 months is insane...

When I was in one hit 6 months, with none of these supply issues, and it hit morale fleetwide.

This isn't even really "armed conflict" and there's no logical reason not to rotate the ships out except they don't want to. We do that in actual wars and peace time. The Lincoln and all it's support are going to be there indefinitely.

Anyone that gets sent anywhere, will be there indefinitely.

A shit ton of norms are being violated, and even Republican voters not voting is an advantage, they don't have to flip.

I'm a sailor, but not military. I have done 9 months at sea before, it's tough but doable.

However 9 months without knowing when you're going home is diabolical. We had people going insane during covid when no one knew when the ports would allow us to come in again.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world -3 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

I’m a sailor, but not military

Oh ok, so you have no idea what its like, but still wanted to share you're unrelated ancedotal experience.

Just like when someone asks an astronaut a question, I chime in because I once rode in a hot air ballon

[–] SanitationStation@lemmy.world 3 points 23 hours ago

Oh. I apologize then. The experience of being on a boat for an extended period of time seemed somewhat related.

I hope my unwanted contribution did not ruin your day.

[–] MonkeMischief@lemmy.today 1 points 23 hours ago

Thank you for chiming in with your experiences! That adds a lot of much needed context.

The Lincoln and all it's support are going to be there indefinitely.

Anyone that gets sent anywhere, will be there indefinitely.

Man that's just, so grim. I can imagine even the prospect of getting activated is taking a mental toll at this point. :(

Its all a destruction from planning to steal the election, Epstein files and robbing America blind.

[–] SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

How come “false” reporting about the military is treasonous,

BUT Trump lying about their condition is not?

[–] frongt@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

When the president does it, that means that it is not illegal.

[–] SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 day ago

All men are created equal...except that guy???
