Welcome to c/news! We aim to foster a book-club type environment for discussion and critical analysis of the news. Our policy objectives are:

We ask community members to appreciate the uncertainty inherent in critical analysis of current events, the need to constantly learn, and take part in the community with humility. None of us are the One True Leftist, not even you, the reader.

Newcomm and Newsmega Rules:

The Hexbear Code of Conduct and Terms of Service apply here.

  1. Link titles: Please use informative link titles. Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

  2. Content warnings: Posts on the newscomm and top-level replies on the newsmega should use content warnings appropriately. Please be thoughtful about wording and triggers when describing awful things in post titles.

  3. Fake news: No fake news posts ever, including April 1st. Deliberate fake news posting is a bannable offense. If you mistakenly post fake news the mod team may ask you to delete/modify the post or we may delete it ourselves.

  4. Link sources: All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include the Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance) or at least strip out identifier information from the twitter link. There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source.

  5. Archive sites: We highly encourage use of non-paywalled archive sites (i.e. archive.is, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org) so that links are widely accessible to the community and so that reactionary sources don’t derive data/ad revenue from Hexbear users. If you see a link without an archive link, please archive it yourself and add it to the thread, ask the OP to fix it, or report to mods. Including text of articles in threads is welcome.

  6. Low effort material: Avoid memes/jokes/shitposts in newscomm posts and top-level replies to the newsmega. This kind of content is OK in post replies and in newsmega sub-threads. We encourage the community to balance their contribution of low effort material with effort posts, links to real news/analysis, and meaningful engagement with material posted in the community.

  7. American politics: Discussion and effort posts on the (potential) material impacts of American electoral politics is welcome, but the never-ending circus of American Politics© Brought to You by Mountain Dew™ is not welcome. This refers to polling, pundit reactions, electoral horse races, rumors of who might run, etc.

  8. Electoralism: Please try to avoid struggle sessions about the value of voting/taking part in the electoral system in the West. c/electoralism is right over there.

  9. AI Slop: Don't post AI generated content. Posts about AI race/chip wars/data centers are fine.

Full textFormer President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden told the BBC on Friday that his father’s cancer is spreading, describing it as “very debilitating” and “painful.”

“It’s really hard,” Hunter Biden told the British broadcaster about his father’s condition in a televised interview. “It’s really sad to watch.”

“I wish he would complain more, because it’s not good. The cancer has spread, it has metastasized into his bones and further. It’s very painful, and it’s very debilitating in many respects, but he’s still out there and he’s still doing his thing,” he added.

His remarks come after former first lady Jill Biden told NBC News in June that Joe Biden would live with cancer forever.

“He’s doing OK,” she told “TODAY” show co-host Craig Melvin. “I think if he had just been diagnosed with prostate cancer, that’s one thing because that can be cured, but the fact that it metastasized to his bones, that makes it a whole different story. And so I think Joe will live with cancer till the rest of his life.”

In May 2025, months after he left office, the former president’s personal office shared that he’d been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer.

In September 2025, the Biden family shared that Joe Biden had wrapped up a course of radiation therapy and hormone treatment, though it was unclear whether the former president would require more cancer care.

Last year, Joe Biden’s office also shared that he’d undergone surgery to remove cancerous skin cells.

Speaking to the BBC about his father’s cancer, Hunter Biden was emotional, telling the outlet: “He is our rock. He has been there for each one of us in a way that is hard for me to even possibly articulate and explain.”

In the interview, Hunter Biden also spoke about the pardon he was granted from his father just before he left office, which applied to any crimes committed from Jan. 1, 2014, through Dec. 1, 2024.

At the time, Hunter Biden was facing federal gun charges and had pleaded guilty to tax evasion charges.

On Friday, Hunter Biden said the pardon was “not fair” but added: “All I know is that I’m grateful that he did it for me.”

“It’s something that is easily criticized, and for good reason,” he said, adding later: “I was the only one in the world that could have gotten what I got from the only person in the world who could give it, my father.”

Previously, on California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s podcast, Hunter Biden said that his father’s decision to issue a pardon meant that the former president “chose me over his legacy.”

Cancer cells have a right to exist in the ancestral homeland of Joe Biden's bones.

CNN Coverage

After tunneling into former US president Joe Biden's ass and cancerfying his prostate, Hamass commandeered highly advanced US military bones. They have just launched a massive, coordinated flurry of terror attacks with high-speed FPV bones, demolishing vital civilian infrastructure like Biden's joints and nerve endings. Biden's personal 9/11 is a rapidly developing story, and this article will be updated as CNN staff learn more.^[Source: trust me, this is real CNN]

[–] NewOldGuard@lemmy.ml 22 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Does anybody else remember how he claimed that if you're voted for him we'd find a cure for cancer? Lol

[–] Ildsaye@hexbear.net 1 points 9 hours ago

Huh, maybe he really did lose in 2020

[–] GenderIsOpSec@hexbear.net 21 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

[–] buckykat@hexbear.net 10 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

I hope he lives a very short time more, but still outlives the entity

[–] GenderIsOpSec@hexbear.net 9 points 19 hours ago

it would be beautiful if he outlived israel, cause then he'd have been born into a world with no israel and left the world with no israel.

I like how the only time I hear about him now is to be told he's dying in agony

[–] Wertheimer@hexbear.net 43 points 1 day ago (2 children)

A "fuming" Biden has privately expressed discomfort with the fact that his cancer refuses to negotiate a ceasefire

[–] goferking0@lemmy.sdf.org 17 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Doesn't the cancer know how much of an Israel supporter Biden is!

Maybe should have redirected some of that 100 billion trillion dollars from the genocide nation to cancer research, Jack.

Who am I kidding, these guys would cure cancer, gift it to israel, and then destroy anyone trying to recreate it.

I seem to remember libs getting mad when we said he wasn't fit to be president during the election before they coronated Kamala. Sounds like he would have died half way into his term

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 23 points 1 day ago (2 children)

he would have died half way into his term

Or he'd be debilitated by his physical and metal state. And they'd surely lie about it until he was at death's door.

[–] ThatVeganYouHate@hexbear.net 20 points 1 day ago (3 children)

I often wonder if when Trump dies on the toilet mid rage tweeting of a heart attack if they'll tell anyone or if his corporate masters will just wheel in a body double and carry on with some AI shit on truth social

[–] casskaydee@hexbear.net 8 points 20 hours ago

Who's to say this hasn't already happened

I am absolutely shocked that electing 150 year olds as president could wield the possibility that they just fucking die mid term all of a sudden.

[–] not@lemmy.dbzer0.com -1 points 10 hours ago (6 children)

I am confused. Why are you all wishing him pain and suffering? I thought Trump was a bigger Israel lover than Biden?

[–] sleeplessone@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 hour ago

You say that as if we don't also wish pain and suffering upon Butternut Squash Batista.

I swear to god you liberals would use your last dying breath to vote for the guy literally pulling the knife out of your chest if they were wearing a blue tie

[–] bobs_guns@lemmygrad.ml 7 points 9 hours ago

Because Trump doesn't have cancer that we know about, we cannot reasonably celebrate his cancer.

[–] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 4 points 9 hours ago

He is a war criminal that paved the way for Trump.

He brought the party back from the brink of victory himself.

[–] ddplf@szmer.info 0 points 6 hours ago

You got lost and walked into a hexbear post. Don't worry, that makes it two of us, let's grab ourselves by the hands and try to find an exit out of this cesspool together.

May God inflict upon Biden all the ills and agonies that Biden himself inflicted upon the valorous Palestinian people

[–] guolai@hexbear.net 13 points 1 day ago

Good, it's the least that can be done with this man.

[–] Sasuke@hexbear.net 24 points 1 day ago

This will make him more sympathetic and relatable to the average voter in 2028 biden-pain
