Fuck AI

"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"

A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

This is the first time I've come across genuine AI janky slop trying to do something productive. Really annoying.

Squoosh is probably a little bit better and more flexible.

Have you tried just

cjxl test.png test.jxl -d 0 -e 9

instead of relying on third party websites?

It is part of libjxl which you should be able to get on on any modern Linux distribution or even on Windows without any issues.

I love how anti-ai people are so ignorant about what is and is not ai.

Yall think an if then statement is ai.

I was trying to figure the AI portion of this as well. Maybe it was AI coded, but I have no way of knowing that from this pic.

It’s just one of the many many online image processors that are likely to be using imagemagick. Heck, nearly all of them are just old PHP sites.

I think the anti-ai people are getting so delusional they think any Software that doesn’t work how they want it to must be AI and not just a shitty developer or… In most cases, a shitty user.

Convertico as a website has existed long before AI.

Just because PNG to jpeg XL is inefficient doesn't mean it's AI.

[–] TwilightKiddy@scribe.disroot.org 1 points 16 hours ago

It's not even that, PNG to lossless JXL is actually stupidly efficient if we are speaking pure file size. Either the website is doing something weird or it's some weird edge case.
