The only notes are the ones I'm taking.

Of course everything trans women do has sexuality imposed upon it. How couldn't it when they're so sexy

[–] SpookyBogMonster@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 day ago

I just want people to give me friendship, and transition help. Not see me as a hole to fuck :/

Sorry for the shitty image. Had trouble finding the original that wasn't composited over something else.

Anyway, above image reminds me of this one.

The I'm sorry girls line kills me.

Trans Inclusive Radical Misogyny

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 22 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Trans women are woman and that's why they belong in the kitchen

/tirm

[–] isleepinahammock@lemmy.blahaj.zone 23 points 2 days ago (2 children)

"Of course trans women are women. Only a woman would be dumb enough to want to be a woman!" 🤣

It's so ridiculous I can't help but love it.

[–] libewa@feddit.org 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

There was a Reddit comment (I think?) once where someone said their grandma believed trans women were women, because nobody would voluntarily put the societal hardships of being a woman upon themselves.

[–] isleepinahammock@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I mean, that's straight-up truth. That's not misogynistic at all. You give up a ton of privilege and safety going from being read as male by strangers to being read as female. And all the career disadvantages that women experience you will now experience. Plus the additional ones that come with being trans.

That's not the kind of thing anyone would do without a damn good reason.

[–] libewa@feddit.org 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I know, the OOP and everyone in the comments said exactly that, and thought it was cute. Although regarding the career disadvantages, that absolutely depends on when in life you transition. Remember, not everyone is out at 20 years old. Some might take a few decades more.

[–] isleepinahammock@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Unless you're already retired, it will affect your career.

[–] libewa@feddit.org 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

In the sense that it takes time off your job, yes. But if you have already built your career, have a high-ranking job, and can afford some time off (does gender-affirming surgery count as treatment of an illness?), the impact will be less than if you went into the market as a woman from the beginning.

It goes way beyond the time off required. Oh, I agree the impact is less the further you are in your career. My point is that it's going to have a strong impact regardless of what age you do it, unless you're already retired. People often see their decades-long careers ended abruptly upon coming out. I've known people that's happened to, even within just the last 15 years. A few decades ago, a common piece of advice among some (particularly white middle class trans women) was to handle transition this way, even if you knew you were trans at 18:

  1. Live as male.
  2. Choose a career that pays as high as possible. Don't focus on what you want to do. Just focus on what pays the most.
  3. Pursue a strategy of what would today be called FIRE. Think "work as a lawyer or doctor but live like a college student."
  4. Make as much money as humanly possible while spending as little as possible. Reach early retirement money as soon as possible. Save up enough for transition as well.
  5. Retire some time before 40 and only come out and start transitioning then.

In a time when job discrimination was so much worse than today, this was a strategy pursued by a lot of people. It was common advice to just assume coming out meant setting your career on fire. Of course there were people that came out even at 18, even 50 years ago, but most of them ended up in sex work.

[–] Grail@multiverse.soulism.net 1 points 1 day ago

See, this is why I think JK Rowling is a trans man. He has no idea why women want to be women. Cis women want to be women too. But Robert Galbraith thinks that womanhood is about wearing your oppression as a badge of honour.

Reminds me of "The guy" post from a while ago who managed to defeat someone's eating disorder, managed to be radically trans inclusive for the weirdest reasons and a whole bunch of other stuff. Hold while I try to find it, I did save it.

EDIT: Found it

[–] a_non_monotonic_function@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Ok, that is bonkers. Refuses to misgender trans men because we "stole them." XD

[–] drcobaltjedi@programming.dev 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)
[–] a_non_monotonic_function@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Deeply misogynist allies are a new lore that I need to explore. Fucking hilarious.

[–] drcobaltjedi@programming.dev 2 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah, I want more trans inclusive radical misogynist stories. Like they're so incredibly blursed and funny.

Strangely society could learn from them.

Imagine how many misogynistic transphobes out there could be transformed into just raging misogynists.

We could start healing as a people.

[–] Grail@multiverse.soulism.net 2 points 1 day ago

This is amazing.

I wanna tell this guy about My genital nullification surgery and see his reaction

[–] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Incredible. Thank you for this

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Curious if any of these are experienced by trans men as well.

[–] kkj@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago

The last one definitely is.

[–] python@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Can I be real? I'm afab and whenever I stumble into any girlposting community I absolutely can't tell whether it's intended to be from a trans-fem point of view or not. Like the posts in !femcelmemes@lemmy.blahaj.zone are perfectly relatable.

[–] rumschlumpel@feddit.org 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm think femcelmemes is intended to be from a general fem point of view, it's just that the Lemmy demographics, and specifically lemmy.blahaj.zone demographics, have a lot more transfems than afab fems.

[–] TheEntity@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 18 hours ago) (4 children)

I have a legitimate question. Is the term "cis fems" frowned upon now or is "afab fems" just a personal preference of yours? In this context the former feels far more obvious to use to me. I'm probably overthinking it but I'd rather err on the side of caution.

[–] Cleisthenian@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 day ago

I'm trans and agree that 'cis fems' is a better term, agab language is bioessentialist imo

[–] rumschlumpel@feddit.org 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

TBH I just used it because you mentioned "afab" in your comment. I'm not super hip with the lingo ...

[–] libewa@feddit.org 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Regarding the „cis fems“ (no iOS, I don‘t want to type cos), cis (here) is simply the opposite of trans (across). There are reports of cis people being insulted by the term, but in my view, they have similar credibility to „I don‘t have pronouns, pronouns boy!!11!“

[–] TheEntity@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

That's my understanding too, hence why I started (over)thinking the parent commenter's choice of words. Thanks for confirming!

[–] libewa@feddit.org 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Do you congratulate for cake day on Lemmy? If so: Happy cake day! Otherwise, please disregard this message.

[–] TheEntity@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

No idea if we do it here, I don't see it much. Thank you nonetheless! I didn't even realize it's today.

[–] SpookyBogMonster@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Very true, though what drives me up a wall is that I get this shit from cis women more than anyone else. You'd think they'd know better 😑

[–] Peanutbjelly@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Humans love making tribal enemies and hate trying to think about how they might be humans as well.

How we get things like TERFs, but also why progressive movements can't seem to collect, because actually communicating our trying to understand the paradoxical complexity of our different lived experiences is somehow insulting to our legitimate grievances. we can totally under no circumstances understand when another group has their own, but different grievances. That would be too much I guess.

OP does a good job showing how weirdly nonsensical that becomes, such as with TERFs, when you start just seeing other people as people, and can distinguish individual preference and lifestyle from the evil of authoritarian stomping out of individual preference and lifestyle. I can comprehend most of feminism as the former, and TERFs strictly as the latter, through ignorance of and assault on the autonomy of trans people. TERFs also affirm themselves socially reifying(making real) some bad rumours about trans people that are accepted because people are susceptible to socialized stories that segregate and tribalize us. There's a whole essay to be made on why trans people tend to be the first demonized group by fascists, which is just using human "surprisal reactions" to confabulate believable stories that "make sense" of that surprise in a way that is inexpensive to share locally. So human ape do tribal bullshit, and don't think about the fascists pushing the narrative. suddenly a mild difficulty in comprehension turns into a fight against demon spawn that are after our children.

The tricky part is when you see a feminist yelling at a MRA for trying to make circumcision illegal in the USA as physical abuse of babies. Is this inherently misogynistic? Or progressive? Does the actual belief and action get drowned by the MRA label painting them as anti-progressive?

Or is this the same TERF style refusal to believe male babies are also humans deserving of autonomy? Or is the very existence of FGM in completely unrelated locations a reasonable enough excuse to shame the MRA as misogynist?

This type of progressive infighting has been abundant yet entirely unnecessary, while actual anti progressives take the cake and run away with it.

Notably heritage foundation types, or things like elon musk unilaterally removing medicine for countless mothers and their babies.

Surely doubling down on the war against other progressive groups was the right decision. /s

I just wish more progressive could comprehend this and successfully scale cooperation verses being divided and conquered. I'm sure cooperation wouldn't become easier if every feminist had to explain they weren't a TERF to a crowd that refused to comprehend the level of complexity that a big group like feminism is going to have inevitable paradoxical offshoots that are anti progressive without comprehending how.

Bringing up this failure in most progressive groups unsurprisingly gets you labelled as 'bad enemy tribe' and banned so nobody has to spend energy thinking about it.

Guess what kind of thing destroyed the active movements fighting the heritage foundation and types before they again acquired political influence and started going full fascist on progressives? Spoiler, it was groups that suddenly started getting pushed as anti progressive so hard that it successfully discouraged and disbanded the progressives within the groups, dissolving all collective effort against the now in power fascists.

See also: why must progressives segregate by race, and never think about why we must define ourselves by surface features above all else?

There a kid over there appreciating something from a culture that doesn't match their skin colour? Better lynch them for stealing something that belongs to a different label of human. They are growing into a wing shape for their colour. Any other style of defining ourselves must be completely incompatible with recognizing legitimate grievances or generational trauma, so instead we should yell at that kid for not recognizing the label we put on them, which is important because of the historical trauma of such labels. Don't think about how circular this is, or how we can actually define humanity into better healing and cooperating shapes in the future. There are very real bigots that are actually in power, and I doubt stephen miller's problem growing up was navigating too far out of his racial and cultural bubble.

Also never ever think about how other progressive groups likely formed out of their own experience of trauma. It must be a lie, and they are after your cookies.

Just don't think about people with actual wealth and power, actively enacting anti-women anti-lgbt, anti-freedom from religion, and just generally anti-human/life policies.

Lots a snide in this, but hope people can comprehend where it is being directed.

Progressives need to start comprehending and cooperating with other progressives past tribal label associations. I guess this framing is the one good thing TERFs can bring us, because I think we could all imagine how gross it would be if the whole feminist label was socialized to be identical to TERF, and how bad that would be for feminist groups and movements trying to fight for important issues. This is also not entirely impossible in the future, SJWs were definitely an attempt at this, and it was pretty successful, and largely made possible by the larger problem in communication and cooperation leaving few to speak out against the larger anti progressive framing being pushed.

Small note that this doesn't mean we would become one uniform amalgam with no separation of salience. Diversity in cooperative systems is how we get things like a functional body rather than a sole lung gasping for air on the sidewalk. Self segregating is basically using the fascist divide and conquer against ourselves, and I hope we can built tools to get beyond that and actually collectively respond.
