This art style reminds me a lot of Animatrix.
Comic Strips
Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.
Rules
-
π Be Nice!
- Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
-
ποΈ Community Standards
- Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
- Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
- Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
- Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
-
𧬠Keep it Real
- Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
-
π½οΈ Credit Where Credit is Due
- Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
- Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
-
π Post Formatting
- Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
- Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
- When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
β Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
β Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
-
π¬ Post Frequency/SPAM
- Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 π) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 π) will be removed.
-
π΄ββ οΈ Internationalization (i18n)
- Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
SΓ, por favor [Spanish/EspaΓ±ol]
- Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
-
πΏ Moderation
- We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
- When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Banned Artists
The following artists are banned from the community.
- Jago
- Stonetoss
- GPrime85
It should be noted that when you make reports, it is your responsibility to provide rational reasoning why something should be removed. Saying it simply breaks community rules is not always good enough.
Web Accessibility
Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.
When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:
Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

I... You know what we should make a combination everclear/whatever they call those drinks for old people like ensure. Call it The Mondays, sell em by the case. As business supplements.
Actually, I've got a case of the Capitalism. (It's terminal.)
No it isn't comrade. Join your local socialist groups (unless they're MLs who think Stalin was good and China is a country to emulate, in which case, find another group who are sane and actually socialist).
At least, I refuse to believe it's terminal!
Wishing you love and solidarity from Australia πͺ
LPT: blow on your mug of gin and tonic before carefully taking sips.
A screwdriver looks like orange juice when you can't smell it.
Yep that's why it exists. American petroleum engineers and techs working in Arab states where alcohol is banned. It's also why it's called that since screwdrivers are used by almost everyone.
There's no clear origin to the name. Both tales on Wikipedia refer to using a screwdriver to stir the drink at work.
While there's no clear origin I can certainly tell you why they would keep calling it a screwdriver while hiding their drinking around their Arabian ESL colleagues
I had a professor who did complex math for energy exploration in Saudi Arabia and apparently you can legally buy a still permit if you have the cash to do so. That's how all of the Saudi royalty gets behind prohibition I guess.
Huh. TIL.
Leaning into the old because I refuse to use βreclaimedβ incel 4chan speak
I witnessed the cesspits from whence that shit fomented, back in the days of gamergate, and will not touch it with a 100 foot pole.
Ah, makes sense why this way of speaking feels so gross to me
Ooh interesting, what do you mean by the 4chan speak? Is it the maxxing thing?
βMaxxing,β βmogging,β β-pilled.β Amongst many others. Iβve even seen this language on billboards and the seepage of sewage into the mainstream is mind-boggling.
Then again those stupid psyop fucks infiltrated Xitter, tumblr, etc. over a decade ago.
Chud-speak is funny to people because of how absurd it is, that's why it's penetrated so deeply into mainstream culture
These terms were originally heavily used as heavy right wing 4chan terms, largely circulating in hate circle jerks (which is like 50% of 4chan anyways). Largely associated with millenial incel culture.
Gen Z proceeded to take these terms and parody the fuck out if them, effectively mocking incel culture and turning it into a huge joke. Thus then became mainstream and its largely acted as a very successful humiliation tactic towards the hateful groups.
Think stuff like all the "chad" memes but applying it to silly stuff, like intense cuts of a random chair or a porta-potty, x-pilled terms, etc.
All their terms have been mocked into oblivion, you cant really use the terms without just sounding like a gen z meme now.
An example of when millennials did a similiar thing was mocking the shit out of gen x biker/trucker hyper masculine culture and turning it into an ironic joke. IE the skeleton "my body is a machine that turns x into y" jokes, or ironic memes of edgy skeletons/wolves/etc. Three moons shirt, those things.
10/10, I fucking love how culture can do stuff like this over time lol
I mean I do love The Pack
I am glad that when I did a team shuffile I was left out of team meetings so now I have no meeting at all.
This is better than winning the lottery.
If you won the lottery and wisely invested the money, you could live off of it, quit your job, and also not have to go to team meetings.
At my job I basically never have meetings since Iβm a resource to do work and not technically a βteam memberβ on any projects. Recently, some of my younger coworkers were talking about doing 8am stand-ups with the whole department to allow people to chip in about eachotherβs work, and I almost lost it.
I always put a shirt when on company calls β I wouldn't trust the camera not suddenly turning on (or myself β not turning the camera on by accident).
Not pants tho β they are staying in the closet.
"Donald Duck-ing it."
Well, it is a bit weird to keep only the bottom half of your fur-suit on.
I've been on the other end of that lol, dude came on shirtless, freaked and left the meeting.
They scream?
Put the pants on the back of the chair as a power move. They can't see that you're not wearing pants, but they can see you're not wearing those and wonder
Zoom meetings have always been pants-optional.
I put tape over mine.
Honestly, having your chest covered in tape is probably going to raise more concerns in the online meeting than going shirtless would.
Yes but if they ask. It's gender confirming care and how dare they?!
I thought it was funny at work because they send little plastic slide covers with the company logo to everyone. I joked that they got tired of how ugly the tape looked and the tape glue was probably damaging something with the leased laptops.
Oh his screen is in the bottom right corner
Ohh I remember being the only one with their camera off while people spoke this kinda crap too!
Now in a new job that doesn't have meetings. At all. I think our manager protects us from them. Or perhaps he protects the rest of the company from us?
"And what's behind that door?"
"Damn you are new, that's HerbGrower's place, we don't go there."

I think our manager protects us from them.
Most (good) managers don't want to be in these meetings any more than you do. Especially since they'd have to be the one running it and doing a lot of the talking. Manager might just be protecting themself.
Oh God I feel this in my bones.
