You don't need to use the nsfw filter for the literal word 'porn' being used in a sentence.

Please let us have one corner of the internet were we can be treated like adults and not smothered in algorithm inspired self censoreship.

Therefore, by the contrapositive of Rule 34, Raid Shadow Legends doesn't exist. ∎

[–] JillyB@beehaw.org 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Contrapositive? I never learned about those. In health they told us only abstinence works

[–] volore@scribe.disroot.org 1 points 1 month ago

And you believed them?

[–] starik@lemmy.today 15 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I didn’t know it was a real game. Thought it was just scam clickbait. Every ad made it look like a different genre.

[–] LurkingLuddite@piefed.social 7 points 1 month ago

It's both. At least as far as you can call the shitstains that companies turned mobile gaming into "games".

I remember a YouTuber I follow breaking into a raid shadow legends bit, clearly taking the piss and pretending they'd actually sponsored the video.

It took me like a full 15 seconds to realize that it was just a real sponsored segment. They were just reading it with so much sarcasm that it came across like a bit. Don't think they ever got that sponsorship again after that.

Days of exhaustive searching in every dark corner. For academic purposes.

~~Really? I doubt that you searched well enough then.
I really doubt that overwatch, a rather popular game, is somehow exempt from R34 or is my lack of room reading ability just missing the joke.~~

Completely disregard everything, I'm a blind idiot.

[–] LurkingLuddite@piefed.social 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Raid Shadow Legends isn't Overwatch.

[–] Shellofbiomatter@lemmus.org 7 points 1 month ago

How in the hell i could misread that badly.

Are they saying Overwatch and League of Legends aren't toxic cesspools?

[–] real_squids@sopuli.xyz 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Depends entirely on how you play them. The secret to enjoying OW is not playing ranked, and quitting the game once you start getting bored.

[–] Shellofbiomatter@lemmus.org 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I got bored while waiting for it to download. Is it the right time to quit already?

[–] real_squids@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 month ago

Eh, Stadium is pretty fun for me. Depends on your boredom threshold lol

[–] weeeeum@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yes they are toxic but they are ultimately still good games. That isn't even personal opinion, just due to the fact that they've been extremely popular for a decade proves that.

[–] architectonas@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Marvel movies have been extremely popular

[–] real_squids@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 month ago

Pretty good comparison as most of OW players are casuals.

Still, the game's had a ton of improvements over time, whereas movies aren't a live-service thing, bit of an apples to oranges comparison.

The game itself has remained popular because it's received tons of updates in that decade, not because it was perfect at launch. Case in point: playing it's original build during events is not fun for long, and most players stop bothering very quickly.

A game's quality is not always deterministic of the fanbase or playerbase's activities.

A competitive game can have solid production quality, great optimization, and plenty of content to get immersed in, but still have players racing to the bottom of the social interaction barrel. Hard to fault the game itself for that.
