Teslas are American EVs. The best selling EVs in the country. The big 3 are giving the future to Elon Fucking Musk. Canada and Mexico will likely be driving BYDs. What blew me away was learning that Honda was giving up. Didn't they build a robot as an engineering exercise just because? They aren't trying to stay competitive in the automobile industry in the future, but they built a fucking robot. Not impressive for a revered engineering company. RIP.

I recently bought an EV and I quickly learned why people like them so much. I don't want another gas car. I guess the big three just want to fail. (or get bailed out)

Nono. Change or get a big ass bailout!

[–] PP_BOY_@lemmy.world -1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

UAW would never let that happen

[–] jatone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

UAW isnt responsible for this nonsense, its management as usual get your head on straight.

[–] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

UAW definitely had a hand in it. For the first time they didn't endorse the democratic nominee. Don't let them off the hook so easily.

shrug kamala and biden were uniquely bad candidates, you know... supporting and enabling a genocide and all that. Never mind all the anti-labor nonsense that kamala demonstrated during her campaign.

they didnt deserve any endorsements for that alone.

[–] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Well, yeah they were terrible candidates. But, lesser evil and all that.

[–] jatone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

But, lesser evil and all that.

talk about beating a dead horse.... and how did that actually in practice work out? kamala and biden never should have run.

[–] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Okay, what possible way is Trump the lesser of two evils in the eyes of a progressive?

[–] jatone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

who said trump was the only other option on the ballot. you're also ignoring the fact that 'none of those' is a valid 'lesser evil' option for many people.

if a party wants to win they need to court voters, dems havent done that since obama's first run and that was a short period of 6 months before they threw it all in the trash can. They've been bleeding their base literally for 40 years now.

BNMW/lesser evil nonsense doesnt win elections.

[–] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Because there were only two electable options. But you already know this and are just dodging the question. Try again, in what way was letting Trump win the lesser evil for a progressive voter?

[–] jatone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Not dodging the question. you're just refusing to acknowledge reality.

nearly 33% of the adult population stayed home. enough to put any other candidate on top if a candidate can motivate them to vote.

the very concept of 'electable' options is nonsense in order to prop up a nonsense position such that biden/kamala had a chance in hell of winning when they completely diverged from their voter demographics desires.

Your idea about voting lost, empirically and now centrist candidates are getting wrecked nation wide.

The only way trump would have lost would have been for dems to about face on isreal (wasnt going to happen) or to support a third party candidate who actually ran on middle class issues.

since people like yourself wasted all your energy propping up failures, trump won, and the liberal corporate whore democrats are getting kicked out of office. stop trying to predicate electability.

Try again, in what way was letting Trump win the lesser evil for a progressive voter?

As I said there were other candidates on the ballot who were better than both kamala and trump, across the board. I voted for one of them. Tough titties your candidate sucked so hard trump was able to convince enough people he was better than her. which is quite impressive tbh. iirc i had 10 items on my list that if kamala would have had one on her platform i would have tossed her my vote. sadly she didnt. so I didnt. pretty simple.

Never mind all the nonsense she pulled while serving as VP to throw the middleclass under the bus. oh well. Now you're receiving a master class in executive power that democrats have refused to use for 40 years.

edit: its funny you can't grasp what trump grasps naturally when it comes to winning elections.

[–] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That's a lot of words to say you don't have an answer still. Try again.

[–] jatone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Pithy answer: dont support a genocide and undercut the middleclass economically as a platform. both party options were unacceptable. hence your idiot candidates lost to a fascist who offered his base what they wanted. Had kamala done that she would have won.

[–] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Not my candidate, never said she was. Still waiting for an answer.

[–] jatone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I literally gave you the answer: 'neither candidate was acceptable to progressives.'

this is why I typed up the long answer for you to read. Im going to stop being polite soon lol.

[–] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Nope, that's not the question I asked. Keep trying.

[–] jatone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

okay moron. let me make this clear: Asking Trump V Kamala is the dumbest fucking this you can ask when the ENTIRE FUCKING POINT I'm making is:

Neither Kamala NOR Trump were worth casting ballots for many people. the question is Kamala v Trump v Neither: Kamala lost because of the people you think rated her higher than trump still didnt vote for her because she didnt fucking meet the bare minimum of: 'dont murder children'

I've answered your question repeatedly your just too fucking dense to figure out that the world doesnt fit your mold and its why youre an idiot.

[–] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Another dodge. Still waiting.

[–] Jhex@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

They are already obsolete, this is just doubling down

[–] David_Eight@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

This seems like such a doomer article. I don't follow the auto industry super close but, I am a big Cadillac fan. Cadillac, last I checked, is still in the procces of going full electric which started in 2022 with the LYRIQ which was a huge success. In 2025 Cadillac had a 12 year sales high with almost half of those being EV and it shows, I see them all over the place.

Maybe they know something we don’t? AI data centers making electricity scarce/more expensive?
