Home office so it's the same screen.

[–] Tabitha@hexbear.net 3 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

both-sides I'm looking at both screens so I'm always posting and pretending to work

[–] huf@hexbear.net 1 points 15 hours ago

hey hey hey, pretending to work is a key part of work! this is when you let the ideas ferment and also work up the motivation to finally actually do your job in 1/5th of the total time.

[–] huf@hexbear.net 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

yeah sure, but it's a different laptop plugged into the same screen.

Maybe not ideal that I barely need to get out of my chair to do the switch.

[–] huf@hexbear.net 4 points 1 day ago

i still have to get up and switch which laptop is plugged into the speakers. that's it though.

Me every day knowing there's kids out there making more money than I do by playing video games (I don't begrudge them their success, I just wish I also had that success)

Also me every day because I have to wake up early and go in to the office early even though all my work could be done at home

I made a decent amount playing competitive games and I gotta be frank a desk job programming is better. The constant need to push out content and spam matches to the detriment of all else was draining. I had to do data analysis on every match and constantly compete compete compete and evolve with the meta every day. If I stopped grinding (re: play matches 16hrs a day) my elo would crash and being top dog really draws views. It took me years after quitting to enjoy gaming again it just stopped being a leisure activity. You have to be good at coding and math to properly analyze and pool data and you DON'T EVEN MAKE ANYTHING with all the programming, you just fucking consume garbage from the game. Idk if I'd do it again frankly I enjoy just cleaning and decorating my house more than gaming or anything computer related these days and my partner seems to like the domestic vibes

I just have a reflex now when playing games that I can just feel the optimal pathing and builds just by industry tropes, the reality is almost every competitive game is identical. I only get fun out of smaller indie single player games now

I also hated dealing with capital G Gamers every day in the community. Streaming was a nightmare and I got sexually harassed all the time and people were genuinely unhinged about trying to dig up all info about my life that they could even though I wasn't like a top streamer or anything

I only exist to reproduce my labor power 😔

[–] Varpeggio@lemmy.zip 0 points 15 hours ago (2 children)

That’s why you don’t reproduce your labor power. Stick it to the man. The best form of protest is one that denies capitalists the millions of dollars your offspring would be required to pay them.

[–] sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml 1 points 9 hours ago

By reproduction of labor power I meant continuing to live by consuming food, water, etc. Child rearing is part of that but not the part I meant. Your labor power is reproduced every day but surviving

Rule 9: no anti-natalism, formerly misspelled anti-nautilism

[–] Varpeggio@lemmy.zip 1 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

1st: why? Seems like a weird rule.

2nd: the rule reads “no anti-natalism memes”, so I’m in the clear!

[–] Feed_el_Castro@hexbear.net 1 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

The reason for the rule is explained in the rules itself, there's a link to a primer readup on ecofascism, I encourage you to go check it out!
