People generations from now are going to feel the embarrassment. That's how potent it is.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

The dead baby ducks are super sad

[–] Folstar@lemmus.org 4 points 1 day ago

Are these the vandals they're arresting for pouring in corrosive chemicals, walking in the pool, and scraping off the poorly done, poorly conceived paint job?

European here, what is this Brawndo?

EDIT: Briefly forgot I could google it.

It's a fictional energy drink from the movie Idiocracy (which has long been on my to-watch list)

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 3 points 17 hours ago

You should try it, it has electrolytes.

[–] filcuk@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 day ago (2 children)

When that came out, it was a way over the top silly movie.
Watching that now may prove to be a very different experience.

[–] Soggy@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Everyone wears Crocs because the costume designer thought they were the stupidest thing they'd ever seen.

[–] III@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I would kill for a dystopian future where, although stupid, the people aren't filled with hatred. Seems like we are headed for the hate-filled idiot future...

[–] M0oP0o@mander.xyz 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Also the society wide sexual confidence behind the use of the term "Bait'n" in public.

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 17 points 2 days ago

It's what plants crave!

[–] thebestaquaman@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I had idiocracy on my list for a while. After watching it, I can confirm that it's easily one of the best movies ever made.

Welcome to Costco, I love you.

[–] Stupidmanager@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Idiocracy is more like real Life tv now versus a movie.

[–] M0oP0o@mander.xyz 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Ha you wish, we don't have the luck to live in a nice a place.

[–] osanna@lemmy.vg 2 points 8 hours ago

Go away. Baitin’

[–] lettruthout@lemmy.world 65 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Someone has to say it…

It’s what plants crave!

I talked to the plants and they just want water.

[–] fartographer@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

Like, from the toilet?

[–] AlboTheGuy@feddit.nl 13 points 1 day ago

It's got electrolytes! It's what plants crave!

[–] Bahnd@lemmy.world 34 points 2 days ago (4 children)

I hope that those pants are rated for chemicals, they have been dumping shit in that water for days to clear up the bloom.

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 22 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

That dude in the front is wearing camo overalls. Is he trying to sneak up on the algae? Is he an assassin?

Dude behind him is wearing dayglow. They are giving mixed signals.

[–] mech@feddit.org 1 points 1 day ago

Introvert vs extrovert

[–] Jessicat@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago (1 children)
[–] osanna@lemmy.vg 11 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Haha yeah. Those people(probably) aren’t rich so they don’t matter

[–] Jessicat@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Plebe safety is not highly ranked in the list of priorities. No one is doing that job unless they need to. I hope they at least get health insurance…

[–] osanna@lemmy.vg 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Haha funny joke. Oh, you were being serious?

[–] Jessicat@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

I was being hopeful :). I don’t know if they’re federal park employees maintaining the memorial or how that works. In any case I try to normalize it where I can.

[–] frank@sopuli.xyz 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

And they don't know this in the photo but they're probably not getting their promised pay for doing this

[–] osanna@lemmy.vg 7 points 2 days ago

Pretty much. Meanwhile their bosses get a million dollar payout for a job well done.

[–] Einskjaldi@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

Hydrogen peroxide very rapidly decomposed to just water

[–] rayyy@piefed.social 2 points 1 day ago

We certainly know that the pool paint isn't rated for those chemicals.

[–] Tylerdurdon@lemmy.world 22 points 2 days ago

Shut up with yer stupid words and put some more Ow, My Balls!" back on!

[–] Danarchy@lemmy.nz 16 points 2 days ago

Careful not to meme too much about this they might send a horsey cop to arrest you and give you a ticket

[–] perishthethought@piefed.social 21 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Please tell me they're not trying to scoop all the algae out of there.

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

If you shock it, that kills the algae, right?

Then where does it go? There's physical remnants left behind. That doesn't just disappear.

Just like you have to skim a regular pool, I'm sure you want to keep solid waste out of the reflecting pool to keep from overwhelming a filtration system that's simply not built for the load.

[–] OrteilGenou@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

Just grab em by the algae, what's taking so long?

[–] fizzle@quokk.au 7 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I assumed it was a generated image.

At the very least, the water is too green.

If it happens to be legit, no they're not scooping algae because they don't have anything to scoop it into.

That said, during algal blooms in estuaries et cetera physically removing it is part of the process. If a healthy estuary is free of whatever variety of algae, but it gets infested somehow for example due to fertiliser run off from farms, then stopping the fertiliser may not be enough to solve the problem because the estuary is clogged up with algae.

[–] bagsy@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

Fuck, that's a top notch joke!! Hats off to you!.

[–] Cellari@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

You know it's fresh when it's green

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

This actually looks delicious. Would totally drink.

I thought brawndo was a mad-magazine-esque pun for kids based off a popular detergent logo from the early 80's. Never saw idiocracy.

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 3 points 15 hours ago

You're living it mate.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 3 points 15 hours ago

Never saw idiocracy.

You don't need to anymore.

[–] neuroneiro@lemmy.world 0 points 1 day ago

You have not yet lived until you’ve experienced the critically & audience adored future classic Masterpiece that will be… Ow! My balls!

However, should you engage, be prepared to get your ‘batin’ interrupted during highlights.
