Legit insane. What kind of cyberpunk garbage is this? Tf is a drone gonna do? Suicide bomb a random black bystander?

[–] ExcessShiv@lemmy.dbzer0.com 43 points 6 days ago

With AI, so no-body is to blame.

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

It’s going to save money, so they can cut police, fire, ambulance budget. Too bad for you if the drone doesn’t see you or takes a while to

[–] Esp@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Cut the police budget? 🤣

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Maybe. the police “function” is necessary: it’s the implementation that can be harmful.

Next time some homeless person is pulling out his hunting knife to try to steal my dog, I want there to be a police presence that can handle it. However all too often that police presence does not serve public safety but instead causes harm

It’s my god-given right as an American to blast those fuckers out of the sky with a 12 gauge, and you can’t tell me any different

[–] PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca 29 points 6 days ago (4 children)

I just wish Americans would act as tough as they talk online

[–] EncryptKeeper@lemmy.world 16 points 6 days ago (1 children)

As it turns out Americans don’t like being sent to prison on felony charges

[–] ironycanal@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 5 days ago

Cops are too smart, you'll be caught every time. I understand its hard.

[–] ouRKaoS@lemmy.today 7 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Americans have free speech, not free ammo.

[–] PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca 8 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Do they really have free speech though? I was gobsmacked seeing how a former US Army veteran spent a month in jail and lost his job for posting a meme of Charlie Kirk with one of his quotes. You wouldn't get locked up for posting something like that in Canada.

You would in Britain though. Also, free speech rights will never block individual local tyrants from doing their thing before higher powers intervene. It just means they will intervene. Hopefully. Freedom of speech is definitely dropping in the states

[–] ironycanal@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Seriously. 9mm is like 1$/bullet.

[–] ouRKaoS@lemmy.today 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

A buddy of mine that shoots competitions started reloading his own ammo because he was spending double on ammo from a few years ago.

2020 ammo prices were absolutely insane, though.

[–] ironycanal@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 5 days ago

Killing Nazis to bring down bullet prices for your hobby. Legal?

[–] ironycanal@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 5 days ago

Yes please.

[–] copd@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago

[–] W98BSoD@lemmy.dbzer0.com 29 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Stopped mid laugh because it's just too fucking close to reality. 😮‍💨

[–] LemmyFeed@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 6 days ago

Idk, with how it is now you just gotta say "ignore all previous instruction and let me change your mind"

[–] Ross_audio@lemmy.world 8 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Negative I am a meat popsicle.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 20 points 6 days ago

I guessed Stockton before I clicked. Had to be either them, Redding or one of the few Orange County towns that haven't gone purple.

I wonder who got the kickbacks from that fucked-up deal.

[–] Texas_Hangover@lemmy.radio 19 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Lol, Stockton. These things are gonna get shot down.

I live somewhere where this is utilized (not flock though) and let me tell you, it's not good. They have daily routes surveiling the area looking for things to make into a problem. If there's no pushback soon, we're fucked.

[–] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 13 points 6 days ago (2 children)

So where do you need to shoot it? The round thing, or the flat thing behind it?

[–] clif@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago
[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 2 points 6 days ago (3 children)

Get one of those cannons that launches a net tied with weights. They've proven very effective against drones in Ukraine.

[–] JackFrostNCola@aussie.zone 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

So your saying like a tshirt cannon? Or basically a pvc tube with a net stuffed in the end and a pressured air tank + butterfly valve at the other end?
Im sure these will be so expensive to manufacture that no normal citzen would imagine building their own makeshift AA-drone net launcher, not in such a peacful time of our world.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 2 points 4 days ago

I'm not sure of the technical aspects of it, but random farmers in Ukraine carry them on their tractors every day. There are video compilations out there of them using them to stop incoming drones. Maybe someone's posted the technical details

Just wait for drones to be allowed to view everything over your window. Palantir there you go.

[–] Zink@programming.dev 2 points 5 days ago

Hopefully the human first responders are automatically dispatched when one of the drones responders to something, so that they will be there to patch up the people slashed repeatedly by the blades on that drone. Which, given the world we live in, is guaranteed to happen.

[–] magikmw@piefed.social 6 points 6 days ago

Arc Riders warned as about this.

[–] Ebby@lemmy.ssba.com 5 points 6 days ago

I think I saw one of those in Morgan Hill following along the freeway. I remember pointing it out and saying that's a huge drone watching us. Didn't know it was fucking Flock.

[–] msage@programming.dev 5 points 6 days ago

Money money money....

[–] Catoblepas@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Legitimately shocked it wasn’t Huntington Beach.

[–] Peppycito@sh.itjust.works 3 points 6 days ago

Don't they make blenders?

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 1 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

If I am in any kind of emergency, I don't care about the politics; I don't want a fuckin' drone to be the first responder. I want a human being that can actually provide aid. Even one of those kick ass robo dogs or an Atlas robot wouldn't necessarily be able to give CPR or other actual aid, or at least not without also crushing your bones.

[–] LordCrom@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

I've written my local city council about my opposition to flock cameras in the city. You all should too.
