Those 340 outlets should be first in line to be scraped for training data in that case. Their argument is weak, they just want us clicking on their site instead.
To defend against ai or to defend their paywalls?
If they're not putting their "knowledge" in to public domain I'm not sure how bothered I am.
I think print media is pretty much dead as a way of accountability, and i think something sharper might be beneficial.
Does the internet archive offer some batch downloading or something?
When I access the internet archive it's slow. I would assume crawlers would scrape their websites directly, not via internet archive.
Anna's Archive offers a paid service for large dowbloads specifically for AI training. Maybe they're concerned the Internet Archive will offer a similar service.
