if we can parse picasso then sure, why shouldn't birds be able to parse bird picasso?

pigeons tell each other apart by their feet, not their faces. stop being so human-centric. :D

I don't know what your angle is but I'm not getting tricked into sending feet pics again.

Probably by smell and call, birds will have different "dialects" so to speak with familiar and stranger birds. I wanted to be able to recognize individual birds so I looked up how a while ago and most species use smell, they probably recognize plumage or color patterns also more than facial features.

I think humans are distinct among animals for the degree which they observe and think about each other's faces.

They do care. LB wins. It's the birdest bird

Beak matters more than eye.

No Eye: fine, at least it's got a beak
Large Eye: yes but what about beak
Large Beak: YES, here is birb I'm looking for
Reverse Eye and Beak: found it, this is birb
No Beak: excuse me, who or what is this

Are these different pigeons? Looks like one bird with a bunch of different effects on it to me.

[–] Dort_Owl@hexbear.net 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Maybe the pigeons were so smart that they figured out it was just pictures of the same pigeon with alterations

thinking-about-it

I was under the impression that pigeons are actually pretty good with faces and can tell people apart reliably. But I'm no pigeonologist
