This community is for ethnic minorities and people of color. This is a safe space where such people can freely discuss their struggles, insight, and thoughts without fear. If you are not, we respectfully ask you do not post or comment here. A future community will be established to allow for racial discussions with a mixed userbase. However, remember, comments here must still respect Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines.

This place is for ethnic minorities and people of color. This includes those of mixed heritage and those who may be "white" but are of an ethnicity that is a minority in their area (i.e. Kurds, etc) If you've experienced oppression due to your identity that is not based on sexual / gender identification, you are welcome here.
Moreover, for our American audience, we have people from around the world who are "white" but are oppressed due to being a minority in their country. They are and should be welcomed here.

So technically, I did get an offer, although it was a conditional one.
The hiring manager got back to me and told me she was going to reach out to her IT team again. After that, she didn't get back to me with an update just yet, so, at the very earliest, I'm expecting one tomorrow, as I don't think it is likely that everyone would be off for Juneteenth (although, I might be wrong. IDK).
If these MFs let me do this god damn test again, it will finally be the end of this job hunting shit FFS.

Job update: For the last part of this hiring process, I have to do a simple test of my PC specs (because it is a remote job). I have an appointment set up to get all of that done, but after that, based off of what I can sense, an offer seems highly likely, but I won't know for sure until later! I took some time to optimize my PC's performance in the meantime. I got rid of a shitload of files I no longer need and changed a good deal of power settings. It has seemingly been working faster, so I hope to have no issues. Unfortunately, the PC I use is pretty damn old, but it's not too bad in how it functions.
I also still have some other interviews. Thankfully, all the interviews I currently have scheduled are virtual, so I don't even have to go anywhere to do them, so I said I might as well attend them just in case.

Over the last few years I've seen so much blatant racism from some gay folks... like last Christmas Eve when I was visiting the US another Latin American literally told me to "go back to Mexico!"
βIβve also seen strangers online who are gay or trans just casually dropping the n word over and over itβs wild to me... like in what world do you think being part of one marginalized group gives you a free pass to be racist to others?

One thing to remember is that most issues and racism from the lgbt community comes from the white part of it. Building solidarity with poc lgbt folks is much easier as they suffer not only from queerphobia but also racism from their white counterparts and are much different. White people will be white no matter what other marginalized identity they may have. That's not to say that there's no shit from poc lgbt people but that goes for every group. And it all goes that if anybody is seen as a valid target for anything then nobody is safe. If they refuse to grow (speaking of individuals) then drop that specific person.
Just had lunch with my multi ethnic coworkers. One is Iranian who said the Iran government is corrupt and killing kids and it's wrong to close the strait. Another has a brother being deployed to Iran in the airforce.
Other coworkers said hope he stays safe, I kept quiet because I don't.

Honestly, i've wanted to say this for a few days but didn't know where it would belong, but:
I don't even care about Platner himself. I'm not a yankee and a hitlerite will be in charge of Maine eitherway, and as far as i'm concerned, all empire troopers/US politicians are completely revolting and horrible.

I'm now signed up with two recruiting agencies, but my vibes tell me that both of them will be useless as fuck.
The first interview I did with the first agency didn't work out. My agent told me she would search for other things, but still hasn't actually gotten back to me since then.

That was quite a W, I guess. I sent a follow-up text thanking her for the interview, and she was really happy I did.
Unfortunately, she isn't the only one playing a role in the final decision, so maybe I won't get it, but boosted my confidence a bit either way.

I have this friend, whom I'll call K, a person I was really close with for a minute.
For the longest time, K viewed me as a cis woman.
However, I felt like I wanted to be a little more true to myself in my interactions with her, so I revealed to her that such is really not the case and I am an androgyne.
She seemed receptive and everything, and she said something like, "I take no issue with it! You're the same person before you even told me."
Well, another friend of mine, a trans woman herself, found a social media comment of K saying "Disgusting and sad" on a video of a trans woman happy about bottom surgery (and, of course, with some crying emojis π’π’π’ to make her transphobia look benevolent and rooted in concern for the trans woman's well-being).
Gee, I wonder who else I'm wrongly granting trust.
