Ethnic Minorities and People of Color
Official Title of this Community: Ethnic Minorities and People of Color
Why is the title different?
We like to have fun here.
What is this place? A safe space for underrepresented peoples and peoples of color to talk, chill, and vibe.
What are the basic rules of the community?
-
Follow Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines. Non negotiable. This is the bedrock and mods will make decisions with this always in mind.
-
This community is for ethnic minorities and people of color. This is a safe space where such people can freely discuss their struggles, insight, and thoughts without fear. If you are not, we respectfully ask you do not post or comment here. A future community will be established to allow for racial discussions with a mixed userbase. However, remember, comments here must still respect Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines.
-
Irony Racism is still racism. Racism is bad m'kay? We will treat irony racism and bad faith racist satire as racism. Will wield the ban hammer accordingly.
-
No sectarianism: This is an identity channel not a channel for you all to complain about why XYZ isn't the "one true leftism". Take that to another place.
-
Stupidpol is not allowed. Stupidpol is class reductionist. We are an identity community. Thinking like stupidpol ignores the struggles of the oppressed, their voices, and their need for unique support. Nothing says oppression more than someone saying that the identity you have is "not real" and that if you only thought like them you'd see what your "real" identity is. Mods reserve the right to ban users and content who promote stupidpol, stupidpol memes, and other class reductionist thinking.
FAQ
I don't look XYZ and/or sometimes I can pass as white so I don't know if I can post here. Can I?

This place is for ethnic minorities and people of color. This includes those of mixed heritage and those who may be "white" but are of an ethnicity that is a minority in their area (i.e. Kurds, etc) If you've experienced oppression due to your identity that is not based on sexual / gender identification, you are welcome here.
-
Moreover, for our American audience, we have people from around the world who are "white" but are oppressed due to being a minority in their country. They are and should be welcomed here.

White "antizionists" will look at a video of rabid zionists screaming SA and death threats at muslim children and their first concern is how it might "stoke antisemitism". No matter how many people are murdered by the entity, they never lose sight of the real victims: white Jews in the USA being subjected to mean words from genocide victims.
I firmly believe that if any of these people were around in 1955 they would have called Strom Thurmond an anti-white racist because he provoked backlash against whites. They can all cosplay as Malcolm X supporters now since he's dead but if he was still around they would be tut-tutting him for "playing into the hands of white supremacy by spouting anti-white racism" or whatever.
If you are a POC, the feelings and reputation of a single cracker will always be worth more than a thousand lives of your people put together.
The antisemitism thing is so stupid and disingenuous anyway. The term was contrived to give a veneer of scientific racism to Judenhasse and to racialize white Jews by lumping them in with Arab people
They have taken antisemitism and made it into a buzzword for being against genocide of muslims/arabs and then wonder why people are calling them the boy who cried wolf.
Well they are being attacked even by wildlife such as sharks and lynxes so who knows.
Welcome to the resistance, comrade snow leopard.
It's hard to take claims of antisemitism seriously when neo-nazis were allowed to kill Heather Hayer or how the Columbine shooters were nazis. And these white "antizionists" are the same people who go on about wanting "...nuance and civility, violence has no place in our society." The correct course of action would be to at least imprison every person who perpetuated these events. Outright killing them is entirely justified.
But when anti-fascists get in fights or shoot back at fascists, these "antizionists" crying over "antisemitism" will ridicule them for vigilante justice. They won't bother petitioning the state to crack down on neo-nazis, either. Their solution seems to be just wagging their fingers and hoping strong rhetoric will convince reactionaries to change their minds. Any actions taken to suppress actual, existing antisemitism is disavowed.
Then when Palestine comes up, it's as you say where they're worried more about the feelings of the same people who won't do anything to stop the supposed bigotry they face. Why aren't there armed groups of Jewish militias wiping out KKK chapters? Why is TPUSA allowed to recruit nazis into its organization? These people actually do hurt Jewish people, yet we're supposed to believe Muslims are the larger threat? We can't have a pro-Palestinian student group on campus, but we sure as shit can have College Republicans using slurs and talking about "the JQ" in their group chats.
Like who do these "antizionists" crying over bad optics think is getting fooled? People who support Palestine aren't nazis. Holocaust deniers already lie and say whatever. Liberals engage in bad-faith accusations of antisemitism, regardless of any proof to the contrary. So what groups are left where this is an issue?
I can only conclude their support for Palestine is conditional or they're just too chickenshit to admit they're zionists who want to go back to October 6th. Either way, they should fuck off or get with the program.
Not to mention, white leftists have no qualms freely criticizing China over their activities in Africa despite the millions of Chinese civilians murdered by the genocidal IJA during WWII. Funny how they don't feel the need to beat around the bush and delicately dance on eggshells when it comes to trashing China. No one feels the need to have a discussion about the Nanjing Massacre every time sinophobic reactionaries set up shop on a college campus to harass Chinese students.
I can only conclude that they either think genocides only matter if the victims are white, or that they're just outright genocide deniers altogether. Or, of course, that they're just arguing in bad faith to somehow blame Muslims for the European-committed Holocaust, which they obviously are. Love to see whites freaking out about China not placing a heavier emphasis on Holocaust education (resulting in antizionism having zero stigma in China) as if the history of the entire world is 1940s Europe. If you google you can even find articles from perplexed "China experts" going "why can't they just get over it?" on the anniversary of the Nanjing Massacre.
Iran too, you can criticise Iran freely even though more than 10 million iranians got killed in the famine
A friend of mine sent me this TikTok today, and I read the comments. Most of them were good (surprisingly), but I found this one:
Ay, ay, ay...
Call me back when a Jewish person has their face posted onto nextdoor and gets the cops called on them for walking through a neighborhood, specifically because of their Jewishness.
Need to ask this reply person the same question that Finklestien was asking in that interview from a while back. What systemic oppression do Jewish people face these days?
People say mean things and in their eyes that's the same as apartheid, ethnic cleansing, etc...
Ngl I'm surprised most of the comments were good as well. Then again, the atrocities have become too loud for anybody to ignore and so has the hypocrisy.
