Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

Right? I am not capable of believing in anything harder than I believe in the gullibility of those rubes and their constant role as useful idiots

[–] athatet@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 month ago

I believe in it harder than they believe in the next grift.

[–] hemmes@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

They believe whitehouse.gov/aliens is about actual aliens from outer space

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 55 points 1 month ago (3 children)

They'd just call the AI woke.

I don't think it'd be much of a fight. Conservatives get their jollies from hurting others feelings. AI has no feelings, and data centers are just buildings.

So conservatives could yell at a data cdnter "I FUCKED YOUR MOTHER!!!" and the data center would still be a brick building without feelings.

[–] backalleycoyote@lemmy.today 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Data centers are next gen Planned Parenthoods, the ones where post-birth abortions are performed.

Except sometimes conservatives go out and shoot people.

Well then it'll have to be Sam Altman, then. And probably Thiel, and any other gay billionaire. Actually, just all the billionaires. No sense discriminating on the basis of sexual identity.

I think that's the point, right?

Preganté~

[–] affiliate@lemmy.world 29 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Conservatives will believe anything so long as it’s said to them by the right person

[–] Agent641@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Or denied by the right person.

"The baseless rumors that the Democratic party are partnering with Anthropic to enable men to become pregnant are divisive lies perpetrated by cretins in the Republican party."

  • Hilary Clinton

That'll have them frothing at the mouth in no time

You ever hear of the radio production "War of the Worlds"?

Hell, were you around a few years ago when they were all raising hell about litterboxes in schools for kids who identify as cats?

That that's why Sam Altman (who's gay) is pushing AI so hard. He's trying to get pregnant. Illuminati confirmed.

Introducing the Protecting Children From Woke Groomer Computers Act in 3… 2… 1…

[–] DarkCloud@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Option 1): AI is genetically enabling gay couples to become "pregnant" by match a surrogates DNA to their partners in order to find their perfect "Gayby" offspring. Allowing gay men to produce a baby with similar genes to their loved one.

Option 2): AI companies are now helping newly transitioned women to have their genes spliced with womb donors, in order to further research into male-born pregnancy. The first baby conceived by two people of male DNA is espected happen to within the next two years, with doctors confident of current results.

Option 3): Men without families are now being targeted by an extremely addictive AI app. The app named Family Now is giving men the customized experience of having a wife, and even a child who looks like them, however some who play the game have reported feeling manipulated and addicted to it.

They believe what they're told to believe so yes it's possible.

[–] Rhoeri@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

Yes. Without question. They’re proven idiots. There is no world in a multiverse in which they wouldn’t, that is how fundamentally stupid those assholes are.

[–] nectar45@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 month ago

We spread a misinformation campaign based around AI forcing you to become a woman

[–] Adderbox76@lemmy.ca 9 points 1 month ago

Conservatives will believe anything as long as it's followed by the hastags #MAGA #PATRIOT #WOKE and #TDS in any order.

[–] switcheroo@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

If it was on Faux "News" Entertainment, yes they will believe it.

[–] zorflieg@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

Part of the childbirth freedom and democracy act. Did you know that a womb isn't actually needed to give birth. Scientists at the UofT theorize that the organ is a left over from ancient days when babies needed more protection from daily danger. Now in our totally safe society it's redundant and men can just gestate babies in the space between their organs. Of course c-section is the preferred method of delivery but the alternative is not insurmountable.

American conservatism is a top-down movement. Even if they are anto-AI at the start, they will fall in line once their masters (who consist of the very people with AI datacenters) push back. In fact, they will go full pro AI and kill their own town if Trump makes being pro-AI a MAGA issue.

MAGA is mostly a group of Boomers that have just gotten the hang of the internet within the last 10 years or so. They are still in the "trolling" child-like phase of using the internet.

However, this is slowly morphing into a conspiracy oriented culture. They tell weird stories to each other and other people pretend to believe the stories and add to them. This is why they seem so batshit crazy, they know half the stuff they say is idiotic ... but they like the reactions they get from "the libs" ... its another form of trolling.

So put a liberal hating spin on the story and it would work.

[–] NikkiDimes@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I think you're giving them far too much credit

This thought occurred to me while showering.

sure.

Arnold Schwarzenegger taught US audiences that 'nothing is inconceivable' over three decades agofilm poster for the 1994 film "Junior", with Danny DeVito as a doctor holding a stethoscope to a pregnant Arnold Schwarzenegger's belly. also Emma Thompson.

[–] terranoid@lemmy.cafe 7 points 1 month ago

It's not a tumah

[–] TronBronson@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

Tell them the AI is making their kids trans and they’ll burn the shit down

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

My son used AI for a night and now he is a cross dressing transgender freak. 10/10 would recommend.

[–] green_goglin@thelemmy.club 5 points 1 month ago

Praying for you, patriot.

[–] Dzheyk@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 month ago

To put it simply...yes.

[–] chemical_cutthroat@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It would be so much easier to convince them that AI was turning you gay.

Anything that filters through the emotional part of someone brain before the logical one would work.

[–] urno@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Who would’ve thought a casino bankrupting, pussy grabbing, compulsive lying, narcissistic, Epstein best friending, felony committing, convicted sexual offender could enter and succeed in the political arena whilst accusing people of eating cats and dogs?

But here we are.

Not a great leap to a different strand of bullshit that would leave the wider world agog. More agog. Agoger?

[–] LovableSidekick@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I imagine there are people stupid enough to believe it regardless of their politics.

[–] badgermurphy@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Surely, but it seems the point of the thought was speculation on turning AI's biggest proponents against it. He seems to be suggesting that Republicans are largely AI fanatics and other groups are not. I don't know if that's true or not, but I have noticed a strong correlation between authoritarian thinking and exceptional credulity, so long as the information appears to be coming from a friendly source.
