[–] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

isn't that just the voynich manuscript? Plus cryptobotany for extra spice

[–] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

I thought that it had been established that the Voynich was basically a fancy version of the doodle pad that used to sit by the phone and that there was no special meaning to it.

Crypto bro-ology :NFTs will make you fucking rich bro

[–] Postmortal_Pop@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Crypto bro-ology implies the existence of ordinary bro-ology, which is how we discovered the bro code.

[–] CIA_chatbot@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Bro-ology, first founded by Brosef Brochevsky. With his simple declaration. Bros before Hoes.

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Current research in the field is mostly focused on how to resolve the Bro Is A Ho Paradox

[–] CIA_chatbot@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

That has spun off an entirety new field of theobrotical physics. “If the bro is in a box, he is both a bro and a ho until observed”

[–] Zachariah@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I regret to inform you that cryptogeography does exist, it's in that weirdly nazi end of the Atlantis myth which supposes the existence of Lemuria, Hyperboria and most alarmingly Thule.

I was very confused but not particularly surprised that Conan the Barbarian had spawned a Nazi conspiracy theory until I realized I was a dumbass and that was Hyboria.

On the other hand, now I realize what myth he was ripping off with the name which is honestly pretty great because it was the only reference I didn't get lol

Cryptogeometry is 4d geometry for people who just can't fathom it like me.

[–] ICastFist@programming.dev 3 points 1 day ago

Cryptogeography sounds like colonialism 🤔

[–] Postmortal_Pop@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

I'd love to be a cryptoanthropologist, studying the cultural impact of artificial lighting on shadow people and their societies.

Of course I can speak lovecraftian elder god, I got my BA in cryptoetemology!

I bet cryptopaleontology is booming with the consistent Jurassic World releases.

[–] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Cryptography: you'll never guess the message hidden in this random string of characters!

🙄 suuuure

[–] skulblaka@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Cryptobotany stories exist, Vita Carnis is one lol

A quite good one in fact

For more interesting cryptobotany, Gemini Home Entertainment could also be considered cryptobotany

Aren’t they all describing the essence of SCP?

[–] Cybersec@piefed.social 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah I was going to say, if this sounds interesting check out reading There is No Antimemetics Division

[–] Postmortal_Pop@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The Exploring Series is currently doing a multi-part reading of it on YouTube and I honestly feel like he's a great entry point for anyone to get into SCP as a media. Not only does he have this dry, burocratic voice that fits the vibe of someone reading these things at a mandatory training seminar, but he has an amazing joke delivery when he makes them, and he actually elaborates on the situation at the end and when it gets too heady. Having him expound on fifthism is the only reason I understand the narrative because most of the references and implications flew way over my head.

[–] Cybersec@piefed.social 2 points 1 day ago

Awesome I’ll check it out today thank you :-)

[–] notabot@piefed.social 2 points 2 days ago

Cryptoastromony - some stars move around, but only when they're on the day side.

[–] drre@feddit.org 2 points 2 days ago

I'm quite sure Mr. H. P. Lovecraft would have loved to contribute.

[–] candyman337@piefed.ca 1 points 2 days ago
