Reported as "internal US news", but the angle on the larger discussion of Iran merits it being here.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

At least he is truthful about not thinking. The whole nuclear thing is tired propaganda that no one that knows anything believes anymore.

someone needs to make a meme of this on the one hand (cost of Iran war is $26 billion so far IIRC) and how we can't afford healthcare

[–] uberdroog@lemmy.world 3 points 8 hours ago

He sure as fuck thinks about his own and taking our money directly.

Wow. No wonder the Israelis like him so much. He by definition isn't being an American president.

"I do not think". That's where the sentence should end.

[–] Vergissmeinnicht@lemmy.ca 12 points 20 hours ago

He doesn't need to. The project 2025 christian nationalists are doing the thinking for him.

[–] rwrwefwef@sh.itjust.works 8 points 15 hours ago

...it shows.

there is literally no way to prevent it now. he is not going to be impeached fast enough and it will be to late, honestly its already to late, for a competent presidential administration to fix this. Heck it would take a min of six months to even get the agencies sorta competent and then they would have no good data for some time.

[–] switcheroo@lemmy.world 13 points 18 hours ago

MAGAts will spin it like "he meant he doesn't think about the libs' finances". Then lap up his shit and call it custard.

It was very smart of Americans to elect Trump for President of the USA in 2014. Because just as expected Trump has delivered on all his promises. No political bullshit, just action to help the American people.
He is making USA respected all over the world again, and he has saved the economy, and China is standing in line to kiss his feet together with other leaders from around the world.
Trump is telling the truth, he is saying it like it is. And first an foremost he hasn't started any unnecessary war, that the people of USA has to foot the bill for.
He also continues the proud tradition of USA to defend democracies, except Ukraine because they don't have any oil, so they don't count.

I guess if I was American, I too would choose to live in lala land, or total ignorance, because reality must be unbearable over there.

PS: The economy is absolutely stellar, I have made billions in corrupt deals since I was elected.
So don't complain, you could just have done the same. Everybody I know does it.

“The only thing that matters when I’m talking about Iran [is] they can’t have a nuclear weapon,” Trump told reporters at the White House before boarding a plane to China. “I don’t think about Americans’ financial situation. I don’t think about anybody. I think about one thing: We cannot let Iran have a nuclear weapon. That’s all.”

Hmm, funny thing that goal. Why did the previous nonproliferation agreement fall apart again? Oh, right, that was Trump:

"I don’t know what would have happened if he hadn’t withdrawn the U.S. from the deal," Lisa Koch, an expert on American foreign policy and nuclear weapons and a Claremont McKenna College associate professor of government, told PolitiFact. "But I can say that if the United States had stayed in the (Iran agreement), and if everything had continued to go as it had been going between January 2016 and the U.S. withdrawal, Iran would still have an internationally monitored nuclear program and would not possess uranium enriched to the level at which Iran could decide to build nuclear bombs on a short timeline."

Trump can eat a bag of dicks.

I think/hope this is what will alienate most of his MAGA backers in the end. He ran on "making America great again". Not on "screwing Iran up again". I don't think most of his voters give a crap about Iran. They do about jobs and fuel prices.

Ps: and no I absolutely don't think he would have made America "great again". But basically he promised the disenfranchised that he would look out for them. And he obviously is doing the opposite.

This always was going to happen (a billionaire that got rich by screwing the little guys is not suddenly going to help the little guys) but I didn't expect he'd be so outspoken about it.

[–] FistingEnthusiast@lemmy.world 4 points 8 hours ago

His backers won't abandon him, because he tells them that they can hate with impunity

They'll forgive him anything, so long as they're told that their ignorance and stupidity are righteous
