Help! We can't extract wealth from Brazil! It's unfair!

[–] venusaur@lemmy.world 27 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Then those companies can leave Brazil. What happened to free market?

In general, the U.S. govt will impose higher tariffs on your products. Or cut off funding for infrastructure or humanitarian projects.

The United Mafia of America

Well that doesn't sound very "free market"...

[–] circuitfarmer@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago

The US hasn't cared about a free market for a long time. It's just what the billionaire class chants at the plebs while extracting money from the populace through market manipulation.

A better question is why the US can't figure out this kind of payment system. Isn't Trump supposed to be the crypto President?

[–] Tar_alcaran@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 day ago

It's very hard to figure out a solution when you directly profit from workarounds

PIX is awesome. Fuck credit card fees.

[–] BehavioralClam@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

I mean it's basically QR direct transfers. Most countries do it.

[–] Peruvian_Skies@sh.itjust.works 2 points 10 hours ago

It's still awesome even (or especially) if everyone does it. Visa, Mastercard and the like are obsolete social parasites thanks to these services.

Also, you don't even need a QR code for PIX. Just knowing the person's phone number or CPF is enough.

Lol! Not even the English-speaking media is caring to pretend the US has any reason to look.

They even got into the trap of asking a Brazilian what he thinks of the "fraud risk" thing English-speakers talk so much about...

that's what US imperialism looks like most of the time, under threat of bombs and sanctions.

not a trump thing at all either. it's an US thing.

if it helps, the US is imperialistic towards its own citizens
