Fuck AI

"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"

A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

"Why did you let those planes crash?"

"You're absolutely right–there is no excuse for my actions."

Crashing this economy — with no survivors!

Let’s test it on private planes first

Air Force One

Jesus dude wtf

We might actually see planes fall into the US are you for real?

My mistake, you’re absolutely right -- I neglected to ensure the runway was clear before scheduling that landing. Please accept my apologies for causing those deaths. I’m really glad to be working with you, it’s reassuring that you’ll always keep me honest. You’re not just an assistant traffic controller -- you’re a friend.

assistant to the traffic controller!

Well, hold on now, depending on what this actually means it could actually be a good idea.

Can chatGPT do air traffic control ? NO. Everyone would die. But can we train models specifically for air traffic control ? Probably yes.

And as long as the actual decisions are made by humans, this could actually be an improvement for said humans.

As much as I detest AI, there is a way to do this properly.

There are probably also ways to run nuclear power plants in a near 100% safe way, but this being capitalism, you just know it will not happen. Corners will be cut aggressively. Profit maximization above human life. All the way.

there is a way to do this properly.

Even if that’s true, I am confident that this will not be done properly, especially by this political regime.

That sounds like a really fucking stupid idea

Fuck you, Duffy.

As long as the planes fall from the sky inside the US, who cares?

[–] cooltrainer_frank@lemmy.world 18 points 2 weeks ago

Man idk that's a bit heartless. Fuck the US 6 ways to Sunday and fuck giving them a dime in any way, but I still don't really want planes to crash en masse anywhere

[–] skarn@discuss.tchncs.de 14 points 2 weeks ago

Anyone who has not yet been able to completely cut the US off their business travel.

I'm sure it'll all work out /s
