Good riddance, his Mistery Box bullshit was responsible for the creation of so many shitty shows

List of Best Rated TV Series as voted by the Fediverse
What he did to Star Trek was just awful, and totally set the stage for the ongoing paramount bastardization of new trek. This is absolutely deserved.
I'm okay with but not enamored of new Trek, but what Abrams did was so bad it made new Trek look great.
I don't hate the Kelvinverse movies, I appreciate they're in a separate timeline and they can be fun popcorn movies. Movie Trek is always a different angle.
That said, I wonder what Star Trek Discovery looks like if it was trying to follow TV Trek's footsteps instead of being JJ-esque lensflare and martial arts. Seems like they had to make a few crappy shows just to triangulate that people want to take their time and get to know a crew like they did in the older series.
After what he did to Star Wars I refuse to spend a single dollar on anything he touches.
To be fair, Star Wars wasn't all that good to begin with.
😬
I kind of feel where you’re coming from. As a kid, I loved the original 3 movies. Saw them all in the theater on their first runs. Dad bought the laserdiscs, I bought the VHS releases…
As I got older, the third movie really fell out of favor fast. Watching it now, I can see the genesis of the prequels pandering to the younger audience. Oddly enough, the first movie is a little bit corny, too. I still enjoy it, and fire up the most recent 4K77 release every now and then. Nowadays, Empire is head and shoulders above any of the other movies for me. I’ve yet to get bored watching it. It continues to make me feel what the original made younger me feel.
ETA: all of this is to say out of 9 movies (10 w/ R1), 1 has “held up” for me. 1 is still enjoyable, but i don’t think of it as “great” anymore. So yeah, I kind of see SW as a bit overblown. I’ve already told my friends not to bother calling when the next movie comes out. I’ve been fooled too many times.
Yes, Satan? This one right here. Give his anus all the pineapples.
Sorry-not-sorry.
Edit: Not sure why it didn't post with the original, but I meant to say that's one hell of a curse. Ouch.
He disrespected two of the largest fandoms in the world. It's refreshing to see some actual consequences for producing so much crap, even if that's not directly why he downsized.
disrespected
How about absolutely destroyed? I was amongst the biggest star trek fans you can imagine. I would rewatch multiple episodes per week at least, I have thousands of dollars in memorabilia, models, books, posters, you name it. Show me a scene and I'll tell you the episode, what's it about, who acted in it, etc.
After all the nu trek shit I just stopped watching nu trek. Them I made the huge mistake of watch ST Picard which absolutely ruined Picard for me as a character, as did it ruin seven of nine, then We, and then the entire TNG cast.
I don't watch star trek anymore, for years already. I still have some of the models, I have most of my ST stuff in a big box somewhere I never look. Kurtzman just destroyed the star trek universe for me, and I don't think I'll return anymore and that makes me sad.
This is me and Star Wars. I was the biggest SW dork in the state, before it was acceptable to like SW. The second i heard that Disney had acquired Lucas Film, i knew it was over.
The only new Disney SW I've actually seen is Rogue One, and that's only because my friends pulled a bait and switch on me. Thought we were going bowling, got dragged to the movies instead. And it totally retconed Leia. 🤮
