Mueller, Comey, and Garland will forever be remembered as those that could have done something about this and chose not to. Each of them would have cited protocol and procedure as reasons for their actions, but ultimately all three were just cowards afraid of ruffling feathers and fearful of betting on the wrong horse.

Not true, you are seeing their redemtion in real-time. Most people see Mueller and others as "serious" civil servents who did the best they could. There will not be any introspection or criticism. In 2028 Dems will be glazing Muelleras if the problem with our system isn't capitalism, it's just people didn't believe hard enough in the rule of law and the natural order.

they thought they could ride the tiger, if you'll excuse a metaphor

He was Barr's friend. It's no so much that he was outmaneuvered as that, when Barr lied about the results of the investigation, Mueller just shut up and took it. Just like a soldier following an illegal order. Very Vietnam War of him.

All he had to do was publicly and accurately state the conclusions anyway, Barr's orders be damned.

Mueller was a fucking failure and a Republican jobber. I didn't care for the guy. That said, what Trump said was fucking deplorable and was meant for Charlie Kirk.

Nah Trump has always said the quiet part loud, and it is honestly his best feature. Fuck Mueller, fuck pretty much anyone who hasn't been majority critical of the US government since at the very least Reagan.
