/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. Use spoiler tags in comments, and NSFW checkbox for posts.
This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

Phoenix is no longer a Class M city.

A monument to man's hubris

Probably my favorite Peggy Hill quote.

[–] cmbabul@lemmy.world 2 points 19 hours ago

One of the rare occasions where she was factually correct

Phoenix is classified as Class Y, a demon class biome.

My first visit there when the doors opened and the wall of heat hit me:

I live in Phoenix and when I watched this episode I just kinda... understood that guy.

We are heading to Tucson for Suguaro National Park, then Petrified Forest and Grand Canyon National Parks.

[–] Bhaelfur@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

There's a meteor crater between the Petrified Forest and the Grand Canyon, it shouldn't be too far out of the way. I've been meaning to check it out.

That is on our "potential" list for sure. Thanks for the recommendation

National Parks. We are up to almost 30 so far.

[–] Sunsofold@lemmings.world 4 points 23 hours ago

You willingly went to Phoenix? I know some people are into kinky things but that level of masochism seems a bit extreme.

Related:"Sky Harbor" is an excellent name for an airport. It conjured up images of a futuristic airport that I was really looking forward to.

The actual airport was a letdown. It was fine, but nothing really special.

I visited Phoenix and Tucson in March (years ago), it was nice then.

[–] negativenull@piefed.world 1 points 23 hours ago

We booked expecting March to be a decent time to visit. We were wrong

I’ll never forget stepping off a plane in the dark at 10pm, to 97 degree heat in Texas. Can’t wait until that’s the best Earth has to offer.

I'm already a hydro-homie. My wife, less so. I'll be goading frequently

Phoenix is a monument to man's folly.
