Cute Russian comic. The home of the official English version is here if anyone wants to skip ahead (or support them): https://boosty.to/gabiconomics-en

Low-skilled labour refers to types of work that do not require specialized knowledge, extensive training, or prior experience. These jobs typically involve simple, repetitive tasks and are often the entry point into the workforce.

Firstly, and respectfully, AWOOOOOGA

secondly, cool reflection tech

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 9 points 1 month ago

The artist really seems to be hitting a stride since the introduction of the blacksmith, they start doing a lot of this cool art and it's really attention grabbing.

Can’t believe everyone’s just letting this slide. Dragons are reptiles. Reptiles don’t have mammary glands. That’s the real controversy here, people.

The scalies would be very upset at you if they could read

[–] FishLake@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I don’t know what those are, but they should be informed of this biological fact.

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 4 points 1 month ago

They're furries but for scales.

[–] Trying2KnowMyself@hexbear.net 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Not every furry is all-in on fur.

[–] FishLake@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Is it so much to ask to make sexy reptiles without big gazongas?

[–] Trying2KnowMyself@hexbear.net 5 points 1 month ago

ribbited-for-her-pleasure Sorry, I don’t have any reptiles on hand, will some amphibians do?

"Dragons are reptiles" Ehhhhh... I mean the first ever creatures to be referred to as "drakon" are just big snakes, so yes, but every others ? They're chimeras with reptiles and non-reptile elements, so I don't think they can be properly classified. The Drac from occitan folklore is for example almost always depicted with mammal-like ears. drac Even the Welsh Ddraig has ears, you ca see it on their flag: ddraig I think this remained common until recently, when people started taking Darwin's orginin of species into account and make dragons that might nicely fit into a classification of species. Bat wings an horns are also traits borrowed to mammals. Not strictly "mammalian traits" because we can find examples of reptiles that have had similar features, but clearly these medieval people didn't think "It's a mix between a dimorphodon and a carnotaurus !".

This chimera aspect is even more important and Chinese dragons which are described with nine ressemblances:

as to the nine resemblances, they are the following: his antlers resemble those of a stag, his head that of a camel, his eyes those of a demon, his neck that of a snake, his belly that of a clam (shen, 蜃), his scales those of a carp, his claws those of an eagle, his soles those of a tiger, his ears those of a cow. Upon his head, he has a thing like a broad eminence (a big lump), called [chimu] (尺木). If a dragon has no [chimu], he cannot ascend to the sky.

~quote attributed to Wang Fu, via Wikipedia.

Of these nine animals, only the snake is commonly understood as a reptile. Cladistically speaking, the eagle is also one, but that's still only two out of nine. And four mammals (assuming the demon isn't one... I'll take it it's also non-classifiable).

So, dragons aren't strictly speaking reptiles, and giving them mammalian traits is acceptable and trivial.

Dragons are actually more closely related to chickens than to snakes.

This is just further evidence for the Argonian hypothesis

Reality check: You will NEVER enjoy a warm refreshing glass of lizard milk.

[–] Trying2KnowMyself@hexbear.net 10 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Counterpoint, cold lizard milk:

I miss when Sobe was still in glass bottles. I stopped drinking them when they switched to plastic. Just don't taste the same.

[–] Runcible@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago

it's just an adaptation, like protective coloration

[–] JoeByeThen@hexbear.net 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I know everyone is distracted by their thirst, but I feel like this is from something. Feels piratey, maybe?

[–] Imnecomrade@hexbear.net 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I long to be free from alienation in the same way Cecile has been in this comic.

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago

Cecile has seriously lucked out meeting these goblins tbf she was in a pretty bad position previously.

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 3 points 1 month ago (2 children)

This title is gonna be controversial.

[–] Trying2KnowMyself@hexbear.net 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Could’ve gone with “Division of Labor” if “Alienation from the Product of Labor” was too spicy gabi-pout

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yes division of labour would've been my choice too, it looks like the Russian version uses "Низкоквалифицированный труд", I don't know if Russian makes a distinction between "division of labour" and "low-skilled labour".

[–] alsaaas@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

A basic literal translation would be "low-qualification work". So "low-skilled labour" is fitting

[–] SchillMenaker@hexbear.net 3 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I agree, I too think the dragon blacksmith is a little overly boobular.

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I don't think it's boobular enough.

[–] Flyberius@hexbear.net 5 points 1 month ago (3 children)

All the characters are a bit too boobular imo.

[–] Salah@hexbear.net 5 points 1 month ago

The boobs make that I can’t share these comics with my coworkers

[–] AntiOutsideAktion@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago

buggy-disappointed yeah well the content is fire so I guess the artist can be excessively horny

[–] SchillMenaker@hexbear.net 1 points 1 month ago

I think the other characters are at least near the line. The badass one-armed dragon lady is firmly in the "anti-woke" portion of the spectrum.

Luckily the comic is still fire.

[–] buckykat@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The three names of the goblin rookies: Kid, Skye, and "the rest of you"

[–] Trying2KnowMyself@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Haha, I forgot which number you said we learned Skye’s name in, and while I managed to catch Cecile, I did forget that we just learned a new name new-hire

I hope we get something better than Kid, though new-hire

[–] buckykat@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] Trying2KnowMyself@hexbear.net 1 points 1 month ago

Yeah! But I forgot until your comment here

[–] Moidialectica@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago (2 children)

i can't believe no one has mentioned this but is the reptile naked in this scene???

The kobold? and 2/3 of every female goblin are shirtless in every comic
