Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

US workers are finding it difficult to afford basic necessities as the president claims ‘the economy is roaring back’

The White House insists that the affordability problem Americans like Levie report doesn’t exist. At a rally in Kentucky earlier this week, Donald Trump told the crowd: “Inflation is plummeting, income is rising, the economy is roaring back!”

Though the positive sentiment will be a tough sell for voters in the upcoming midterm elections.

After helping Congress pass huge cuts to healthcare and food assistance programs, Trump is now pushing to remove minimum wage and overtime protections for some workers. And though seven out of 10 Americans said that tariffs have led to higher prices, Trump has only doubled down on more levies.

Far from feeling like the US is in a golden age, workers said rising inflation means their paychecks can’t keep up with prices.

For the jackoffs that voted for PEDOnald, I'd love for them to explain why they expected otherwise. He is a Republican, after all. When has a Republican last been a responsible steward of the economy?

The guy couldn't even do the most basic of shit when it came to a pandemic, FFS.

Pretty sure he was trying to kill Democrat voters. Because for someone who wants praise all the time, that sure was a time to easily get some. But he had other plans for that opportunity.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 7 points 13 hours ago

That was true at the beginning for sure about trying to kill Democratic voters, at least the black ones. Also: all he could think of was himself and "his" economy and his chances at reelection. Finding out these monsters were giddy about early indications that blacks were going to die in higher numbers was gross, but not all that surprising.

He didn't give a flying fuck about any Americans, that's for sure. That was nakedly obvious from the very beginning of the pandemic and didn't get better.

And as you point out, it would have been one of the easiest opportunities to have people rally around their leader and have their approval numbers go sky-high, assuming that leader was in any way a normal human being with normal empathy, or at least the ability to even fake that empathy. PEDOnald has neither.

Stock up on your stickers now!

Can't wait for the extreme outage from the maga idiots who both put the Biden stickers on the pump, but are absolutely appalled at the trump stickers.

Everything went up months ago. I guess the media is just now catching on?

Number of wars? Going up!

(Sorry – special operations – or whatever the latest buzzword is.)

Hey the stock market is going down though!

[–] NarrativeBear@lemmy.world 2 points 12 hours ago

And my bank account savings as well

[–] tempest@lemmy.ca 2 points 12 hours ago

The stock market going down isn't the problem if you know when it is going to go down.

That's why his handlers have been having him pump it up and down every month.

It just isn't working like it used to because 🌮

Random quote from someone in Williamsburg, VA. I don't think I've ever seen a national news article quote someone from my town (well, technically, we just moved on town to the south) lol

I was told "affordability" was a made up phrase by democrats to hurt Trump. Are you saying it is a real issue? Am I suppose to believe my lying eyes or what Trump tells me is obviously true?

Guess this is just more propoganda
