wait wtf? why does this post say "8 MONTHS AGO" and show up on top of "NEW"? 🤔

Is it just me?

My wife and I will go to the movie theater tonight for the preview of "Project Hail Mary". I loved the book so I hope the movie won't be a disappointment.

War Machine

I knew it was going to be utter shit before I started. I got home a bit early last night and wanted to keep drinking, so i fired it up. Again i knew it was going to be utter shit, when I started watching it and ~~to my complete surprise~~ NOT it was …well…. Utter shit.

Nuremberg

Wow this was really great and is anchored by three of the best in the business. Crowe, Malek and Shannon. Truth be had i could watch Shannon read the phone book and i would enthralled.

It's rare that I watch anything I try for more than a few minutes, most times, I shut it off quickly.

In order of recommendation:

Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die -- I was pleasantly surprised. I went in blind, having not heard of the movie before.

Shrinking -- I've been caught up for a while, just waiting with everyone else for new episodes now.

Rooster -- Watched first episode last night, not bad.

Party Down -- Watching for the first time, nearly done. I was a bit surprised by season 3, it was filmed years after the first two, and suddenly everyone wasn't young anymore.

Knight of the Seven Kingdoms -- It was okay, I watched all six episodes, no magic or dragons, which was a plus. I'll probably forget about it, and not watch the next season, if it gets one.

I didn't know Party Down had a season 3, so thanks for making me aware. I hope it's as good as the first two seasons.

My wife and I decided to do a Taskmaster rewatch before series 21 lands. We started with the New Zealand version and just finished series 4 of the original.

[–] albbi@piefed.ca 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I couldn't quite find that Taskmaster spark in the New Zealand version. I think the Taskmaster is a bit too stiff and doesn't seem to be having fun. In contrast, I loved Taskmaster Australia season 4, especially Dave Hughes.

I had the opposite experience. Jeremy is fun enough, I like when the folks that have known him forever take him down a peg. And I like Paul as the assistant, I see why he friends with Acaster and that circle of UK comedians. But I don't like either Tom on TM AU. Gleeson kind of just seems like a prick.

[–] albbi@piefed.ca 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That's interesting that you had the opposite experience. Tom Gleeson was definitely a prick in the first season but I think he mellowed out.

I'll give Taskmaster Australia another try. I did skip the middle seasons.

You must've loved the Jason Mantzoukas season based on your username.

[–] Bishma@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 1 day ago

I may have to give Australia another shot. I was ready to swear it off after the first series, but when Lloyd Langford got cast for the 2nd I gave it another go, and 2 was better than 1. So I should give 3 and 4 a go too.

I did like Mantzoukas a lot. It tickled me that he lost money on the gig because he want to be on so bad he paid his own expenses. But I worry that it's started a trend of big, headline grabbing contestants (like Kumail).

I watched Furry Vengeance last night.

Shit was like Over the Hedge, but from the perspective of the humans instead of the raccoon.

The memes I've seen from the movie were better than the movie itself.

Started watching the last season of For All Mankind before season 5 comes out.

Also watched The Last Vampire on Earth for bad movie night last night. It’s best described as “if Tommy Wiseau tried to make Twilight”

Rewatching Babylon 5, first time this millennium I think. 3rd season ongoing right now, feels surprisingly topical..

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 1 points 3 days ago

been watching over the air but its got barney miller, becker, all the startreks up to enterprise, son of sven, just shoot me, wonder woman, wild wild west, all sorts of stuff.

[–] theuniqueone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 3 days ago

First six episodes of season 3 of the leftovers for some reason I haven't watched it before very good definitely recommend.

[–] Pika@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 days ago

I watched most of season one of a loner's life in another world which was surprisingly good even if cliche, And I also watched no game, no life, zero for the first time, which was pretty cool, had a "but why" storyline but I liked it.
