This feels like a rage comic that was made before R*ddit knew what rage comics were. It's probably at least 15 years old.
Troll science has been around since like 2008, it was originally a non-r*ddit meme but didn't gain traction until the 2010s when it was reposted there. Some of the earliest comics are almost 20 years old.
If I remember correctly this got really popular around 2020 actually.
