"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"

A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

Like it just feels like a lost Battle nowadays thats impossible to even remotely Win :(
While i havemnt yet setup Anubis on my Server :(
considering that a Human can even just go and take my Code and feed it to an Ai because theyre moral compass says that "Ai is Good and anything accesible to everyone no matter the disability" is just such a Scary Thought to me :(
Like the Bubble doesnt simply seem to burst sadly and as much as i like the Progress of AI/LMMs used in Medicine i do hate the GenAI Bullshit we have to deal with on the General Internet :(

Just because you'll lose the war doesn't mean you stop fighting. Make them fight for every step they take and never make it easy for them.

Of course it is. Just because they can steal anything they want doesn't mean that's what everyday people wanna interact with. Pretty much everyone I know in my personal life feels extremely disappointed in themselves when they get tricked into thinking something isn't AI when it was. People naturally gravitate towards things that were made by humans, at least for the time being. Now is specifically not the time to give up because these companies are trying their hardest to normalize it.

These people making AI images, music, videos, books, podcasts, and literally everything are basically doing everything they do for selfish reasons. Their audience isn't other people, it's themselves. Ask any AI artist or AI musician who they are making it for and the majority will either say themselves or they are doing it exclusively to make money in some way. These people are not artists or writers. They're opportunists.

"And even if you can’t defend it from being stolen that doesn’t mean we should stop making things. Just because they’ve stolen from us doesn’t necessarily mean that people will actually want what they are creating with it."
While that is neeccesarily true i do honestly hate very much thinking that way of it just being pointless :(
Like i very much have Issues of where if i loose control of "my babys" which is be it Code or Art or Music i do feel sad and very angry :(
Like my Babys have been taken, copied deformed and violated basically in every form without my Consent :(
And while that Statement could obviously also be taken about Game Mods i do also feel theres a difference between imaginery "Cool" Stuff like Custom Levels for a Video Game or even Characters than AI No Soul Slop Stuff >.>

You can try and see how you can equip your babies with poison pills. That way if they get stolen and mangled into this AI garbage, they'll keep working to drag that whole shitpile down. They can be fighters for justice.

i did actually look into AI Poisoning but i am still super confused on how to make it work or as to what exactly is required, etc. >.<

I think so. But it’s a hard sell given the AI push. I look at it this way (simplistically): it knows how to say/do things convincingly or plausibly, it only knows what to say/do inasmuch as it is prompted properly, but it doesn’t know why it does what it does. People don’t understand this. I know how to make judgement calls and discern from multiple choices while AI just gives an answer with authority. It’s the difference between me looking up recipes and thinking “well I could do x or y to start this spaghetti” versus AI declaring “start with a skillet of kerosene over high heat.” Selling the critical thinking to people who want to be told what to do by a product they’ve been told will solve everything is difficult but necessary.

While I'd love to have an off toggle, I think I'm losing too much by not sharing my content on sites that get regularly scrapped. So I still upload there

i mean yea i can 100% see and understand that obviously :P Just sucks that there isnt an off Toggle or some kind of AI Poisoning that works on the Big Social Medias as well :(
