Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Yeah we all now it's been vandalized. Some fascist terrorist changed the name to add a pedophile to it.

[some brain-damaged speaker for the Kennedy Center said] "The Democrats have been calling artists urging them to cancel and attacking the Center non-stop."

Uhh, no, we haven't.

[And also added] "Commonsense Democrats must speak up before this violence takes a life."

Someone needs to send them that analysis of where almost all the political violence in the US originates from.

first reported by Fox News

Of course it was ....

The USPP Major Crimes Unit is reviewing security footage and investigating

Does the Major Crimes Unit not have, y'know, some actual major crimes to investigate?

[–] mcv@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Common sense Republicans need to speak up before ICE takes more lives.

[–] socsa@piefed.social 30 points 3 days ago

The what?

Do you mean the occupied Kennedy Center?

[–] GuyFawkesV@lemmy.world 23 points 3 days ago

Anyone who calls it that instantly loses credibility.

[–] ZiggyTheZygote@lemmy.ca 23 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Smells like another false flag.

[–] ClanOfTheOcho@lemmy.world 24 points 3 days ago (1 children)

All these sudden reasons for them to close it that don't involve the embarrassment of "nobody wants to buy tickets that support fascists taking over."

[–] I_Has_A_Hat@lemmy.world -3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

As much as I would love if that narrative was true, it is typically the upper-middle to super-upper class that goes to events at the Kennedy Center. While their audience may lean slightly more left than your local country club members, they are still wealthy. I promise they are not having trouble filling seats as the wealthy do not give nearly as much of a shit about Trump as the rest of us.

[–] AngryRedHerring@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

The seats they're having trouble filling are in the dressing rooms.

[–] jumjummy@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

Is it because Trump just keeps walking in?

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 18 points 3 days ago

It's almost like adding Trump's name to something is a curse in many ways

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago

I bet Trump's diaper leaked

[–] nulluser@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago

It’s a calculated campaign. And now they have mentally unstable people taking action

Projection, as usual.

[–] Atelopus-zeteki@fedia.io 9 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Looks like a gallon jug of used motor oil. How could someone do this? I mean literally how, what steps? Of course I'm just asking for a friend, out of idle curiosity, in an attempt to understand The Criminal Mind, you know.

[–] meco03211@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago (2 children)

I've actually wondered about doing something like that with salt. Would wreck the ice still and likely much harder to catch.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

A glycol-based antifreeze would do. Like the liquid that plow trucks spray along with the salt when it gets extra cold.

[–] XeroxCool@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

There are trucks that spray glycol on roads but I can't just dump my used coolant in the streets? So unfair.

[–] Atelopus-zeteki@fedia.io 4 points 3 days ago (2 children)

I suppose there are lots of 'simple sabotage' measures one could imagine. Remember in Hogan's Heroes, they would distribute the dirt dug from the tunnels by slowly releasing it from a sack inside one's trousers while walking about the concentration camp.

[–] lemmylump@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Sabotage, huh? All I know is throwing bird seed on Tesla car lots and cop parking lots is good for the birds.

[–] AngryRedHerring@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Also. You're thinking of Stalag 17. 😏

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

It's in every prison escape movie.

[–] AngryRedHerring@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

I challenge you to find one earlier than Stalag 17!

I don't know that there isn't one, I just challenge you.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

That may or may not have happened in Hogan's Heroes, but I'm pretty sure it's originally from the film The Great Escape, and may have been based on real events

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 days ago

What, did someone take a leak on the ice?

[–] Hylactor@sopuli.xyz 4 points 3 days ago

Used oil, maybe?
