Massie: "The fact our leaders are pedophiles, rapists and murderers isn't a problem, it's only my party's reputation that matters."

[–] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 58 points 4 days ago (4 children)

Massie is doing more than the rest of his party combined.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 12 points 4 days ago (1 children)

he likely isnt funded like the rest of his party, probably not by the same billionaires, and like someone mention probably by donors that thier bottom line is getting hurt by trumps exposure of the files and tariffs.

[–] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 4 days ago

He isn't. I may not like his positions, but he's principaled.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Damning with praise so faint even Hubble couldn't detect it.

Your statement is basically equivalent to "Massie is the only one in the entire party who isn't a criminal co-conspirator." (And even then, the scope of that claim is limited to that particular set of crimes!)

[–] end_stage_ligma@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

I commend Massie on recognizing that his Party's moral code has shifted to be closer to Lavrentiy Beria than Abraham Lincoln

[–] spaghettiwestern@sh.itjust.works 5 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Yes, for the good of the party.

[–] sturmblast@lemmy.world 17 points 4 days ago (12 children)

He's literally going against everyone else in the party on the Epstein thing.. I don't understand what you are talking about.

It’s a start. Imagine if he did nothing?

[–] inari@piefed.zip 80 points 4 days ago (2 children)

And yet... no one is getting arrested or investigated

[–] lennybird@lemmy.world 44 points 4 days ago (2 children)

There's sadly nobody above Bondi and the Supreme a court. They are it.

[–] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 15 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

Sweet Jebus I desperately wanted someone during her deposition to shout "Quiet piggy!" in the middle of her rambling nonsense defending pedos. The chuds would've lost their fucking minds.

[–] kbobabob@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 4 days ago

Right in the middle of her bullshit is when they should have said...

QUIET PIGGY!, is something that Trump has said in the past. You may continue.

Then keep doing it.

[–] TheOneCurly@feddit.online 4 points 4 days ago

I'm pretty sure we could get a guillotine blade above them.

[–] bcgm3@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

Right? "In real time" is another way to say "way too fuckin' slow," apparently.

[–] gmtom@lemmy.world 40 points 4 days ago (1 children)

It's not collapsing this was always the plan. Drag it out and delay it so the frog is boiled slowly and their base has time to adjust to the new party line of "pedophilia is ok actually"

And it's working, people are already saying they don't care if Trump is a child rapist. Soon the incel podcasters will be claiming pedophilia laws are just the woke oppressing "real men" from having sex with girls at their "most fertile" in order to lower birthrates among white people or some shit. Then the boomers will be told "remember the back in the good old day? You could rape a 14 year old and nobody minded, and we all grew up fine?, these young folks are just soft" and by 2028 the republicans will be an explicitly pro pedophile party and there will be leaked videos of Trump rapjng kids and they will still have 40%+ of the vote.

[–] pigup@lemmy.world 20 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

I think the the real reason they're dumping all this money into AI is because of exactly this strategy. AI is the only thing in the world that can give them plausible deniability about the validity of pictures and videos. They're trying to drag things out as slowly as possible because they know it's inevitable it'll come out. They're trying to stuff as much money as possible into AI so that it is as good as possible for when those videos do come out. At that point, they hope to be able to claim that the videos are fake.

[–] aeration1217@lemmy.org 3 points 4 days ago

love anybody who pulls this one out 😏

[–] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 21 points 4 days ago (1 children)

The terrorist nazi pedophile party has been that way much longer than four months. Decades.

[–] Pacattack57@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I think he’s referring to when they initially got the Epstein bill passed. But you’re right the GOP has been an embarrassment since 2016 at minimum, I would argue since Reagan.

[–] MJKee9@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Because Nixon was the picture of class...... But at least he had the decency to resign.

[–] baggachipz@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

He was a massive piece of shit, but he created the EPA. Think that could happen these days?

[–] MJKee9@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Republicans didn't use to be all a bunch of shitheads.

[–] militaryintelligence@lemmy.world 18 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I think it's too late. When Trump told evangelicals to vote this time and you never have to again, I believe him.

And so we should become like Goths, Vandals, and Franks.

Americana Delenda Est

[–] myfunnyaccountname@lemmy.zip 27 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Yup. And in America, nothing will happen. Not a thing. Just some tweets and sound bites in the news. That’s is. America is an embarrassment.

[–] 4grams@awful.systems 10 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (2 children)

I get the feeling, I feel the same way. Somehow though we need to find a way to keep fighting. Honestly, just conversation and awareness helps.

I don’t know how, but ultimately this is on us all to fix, there is no one coming to help. So we just need to keep being diligent, take one more step, show up at one more protest, alter your buying habits, do little things to gum up the system, keep posting, keep arguing, keep holding the fucking line instead of just standing there pointing at it.

America is more than embarrassment, it’s a fucking worldwide disaster and danger. Fuck the news, every last bit of the mainstream media has capitulated or actively participates. Shit like this, Lemmy, mastodon and other human centric spaces, independent and local news sources are where to get your info.

I’m sorry to harp on you, not directed at you, just a little triggered lately. Self fulfilling inaction will get us nowhere.

[–] CafeFrog@lemmy.cafe 1 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

I don’t know how, but ultimately this is on us all to fix

There are concrete steps we can take toward resisting this takeover, eventually culminating in in the deployment of one of our most powerful weapons: a proper, long-term, nation wide General Strike.

The country would be brought to its knees if suddenly deprived of profit and labor. That tactic was extremely effective in Chile in 2019, and had they not fallen for the trick of liberal reform, they would've had a successful revolution on their hands with virtually no bloodshed.

But getting to the point where we can enact a general strike requires we do some groundwork in other ways, which will both make it more effective, and more bearable for us all to weather. Here's what we need to do (the titles below expand if you click them):

Learn First Aid! ⛑️

As we're seeing, deadly violence is being used against us and it will only continue. It extremely important to have the skills to be able to keep yourself and others alive if they get hurt.

Tacticool Girlfriend provides a great introduction to building a personal first aid kit, called an IFAK, which can deal with things like bullet wounds and other serious bleeding wounds. I also want to emphasize her recommendation of only buying medical gear from reputable sources (not Amazon!), such as North American Rescue to avoid fakes that could cost you your life.

But you'll need to learn how to use that equipment, too. The best resource for that is to take a local Stop The Bleed class, which are pretty widely available in most places. They may cost a small fee, but can also sometimes be free. Alternatively, if you cannot access a local class, this video by PrepMedic will give you a solid understanding of how to use Tourniquets and Gauze for wound packing.

Injuries are less harmful if they are tended to early. Learning first aid can help conserve resources when healthcare becomes unaffordable. Having several medics in case of harm by police is an extremely powerful morale booster during a protest that may become a police riot. When you become comfortable with the basics of first aid, riot medicine is the next suggested step.

Establish or join local Mutual Aid networks ✊

If you haven't already, get to know your neighbors. Mutual aid is a willingness to support and grow your community. This can include informal networks through friends, tenant/renter organizations, solidarity groups, and industrial unions.

These are groups using direct action to solve each other's problems. Building strong communities makes it difficult for fascism to take root. The actions of the government are going to hit every community hard, and the ones who build trust in each other and work together are most likely to survive. We've been building a list of resources in !inperson@slrpnk.net to help you on your way. Also check out this handy guide to find existing groups in your area.

This isn't only for your own community protection. Your ability to organize today will change the political landscape tomorrow. When revolution occurs, the social organizations that show the greatest resilience through the regime are the ones typically calling the shots when the dust settles. When it comes to elections, get out the vote drives are useless if most of the voters are fascists. At some point, you have to do grassroots political education if you don't want fascist candidates winning elections. Mutual aid networks are excellent forums not only for teaching each other good political ideas, but demonstrating them in practice.

Join a Union and Prepare 💪

If you aren't in a union (or even if you are, it's worth dual-carding), consider joining the IWW to or contacting EWOC to unionize your workplace (bonus: you'll get higher wages, better benefits, and more time off if you succeed!) to strengthen a general strike if we manage to enact one, as most unions have a strike fund that can supplement your income during a general strike to make it more financially bearable (you should also save as much money as you can reasonably do, so it can also be used to keep yourself afloat during a strike). A General Strike is officially planned by the UAW for May 1st 2028, but it was planned before Trump was elected, and by then may be too late, so prepare now for one that may start sooner.

And for our international friends, you should join one as well, as fascism is gaining momentum globally. If your country isn't listed below, just contact the IWW directly in the link above, and they'll help you set up a new local branch.

Adopt Security Culture and Digital Camouflage 🛡️

Sometimes benign seeming efforts can turn into unexpected personal data collecting traps. Like an obscure website for exchanging contact info with other students turning into a global ad-tech surveillance network (Facebook), or innocent seeming online personality tests being use to harvest character profiles. Even Etsy, Reddit, Tinder, and Duolingo are feeding information to US Government Agencies like ICE.

Security culture is commonly used to describe the general awareness of such potential traps and how it can affect groups or entire communities. This goes beyond mere individual privacy efforts, as without joint efforts these often fail to work.

Especially in activist circles, security culture is paramount. For opsec reasons not everyone in the group might be aware of what clandestine efforts others are involved in, but with a general security culture many potential data leaks can be avoided.

Movements are made by the volume of their participants, and the easier and less dangerous it is to participate, the more people will get involved. As more people get involved, individual involvement becomes even less dangerous, creating a virtuous cycle.

We'll start it off with some General Advice:

  • Mentally wall off personal uniquely identifying info from your online presence, actively build a habit of opsec so that withholding information is your default mental state
  • Be careful about who you meet online
  • Use different, unrelated usernames, passwords & emails for every account. And try not to connect to those accounts with your real IP address (use Tor or a VPN)
  • Be mindful that anything done online leaves a trail
  • agents provocateurs may seek to find patsies willing to perform an ill-advised illegal activity in order to legitimize police repression. If someone is trying to pressure you, especially if you don't have a long and proven history with them, be extremely wary.

For a full guide on what encrypted communications platforms to use, and how to stay off the radar, read the Digital Camouflage section within the Monthly Meta post here (you'll need to scroll down. I'd add it here, but it won't fit in this comment).

I'd also highly recommend Full Spectrum Resistance to anyone who wants further info on how to resist (audiobook version here).

[–] ExperiencedWinter@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Resistance and change often begin in art, and very often in our art, the art of words.

Because the entire cabinet is filled with people on the list hoping/jockeying for redaction or being paid off for their silence.

The corruption is orders of magnitude greater than anything witnessed before.

pam bondi being the most obvious, being a consultant for QATAR , and bribed by trump during her "trump university lawsuit"

[–] hector@lemmy.today 8 points 4 days ago

The boss, and the party, like to have people on the list in power, because they've a check against them. They can ruin them at any time. Least of all the president himself that is scared of being shunted aside, and scared of the details of his own rapeys being released.

It's an old tactic, the borgia pope in the 16th century, the spanish pope whose son was the basis of The Prince in Machivelli's book, compromised the cardinals and or appointed compromised cardinals for the same purpose. I am sure it's not limited to their either.

Some of these college clubs are kind of set up around this too, their hazing rituals often do things that could be used against them, and evidence might even exist of them doing it. Such as James Cameron sodomizing a dead pig. (Put is dick in the mouth of a dead pig, one of many hazings those swells did in their aristocratic college clubs.)

USA politicians don't resign, they will wheel an 100-year-old comatose ghoul in front of the cameras to vote, they do not care. (remember Byrd? God Lord)

He had no clue for months. Reagan too, and now Biden and Trump. But, it really doesn't matter I guess. The actual decisions are made elsewhere.

The 70s was our last gasp, we are running on fumes alone

Just four months of humiliation?

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Collapsing? It was never "built" that something could collapse, their entire "cover up" about this case has been "nuh uh you're stupid" and the confidence that 28% of the country would literally support child rape if it meant making the woke mad.

There's nothing secret that can come out at this point that would change anything, the last batches of even a fraction of the evidence are more than damning, they're some of the most clear and explicit involvement you could possibly hope for short of a video of Trump harming people with Epstein clapping in the background, which I'm sure exists out there.

The GOP party broadly are fine with it as long as they're getting their donations from the huge corporations who are taking advantage of all this to gobble each other up and divide the population so people don't fix their anger where it belongs.

Not only has nothing collapsed, it's stronger than ever. I HATE these headlines.

You should hate it too, you should reject anything that doesn't report actual reality and attack them on social media for inflaming division and media spectacle.

[–] rayyy@piefed.social 3 points 4 days ago

We know. They know we know. They depend on the pedo loving right to still vote for them and to cover for them - sadly they will.
