/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. Use spoiler tags in comments, and NSFW checkbox for posts.
This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

I think you've stumbled on to the probe's ulterior motive.

Spock out in Central Park saving PNGs to birds

Big mistake. Whales have notoriously big mouths.

That whale has a higher rank in starfleet than most officers lol

Seriously, Gracy went to bat for the entire Human race.

Gracy, talking to the probe: "Humans are pretty bad from where I come from, but apparently I was kidnapped through time against my will by these humans, and even though they broke the laws of physics to do it, I think they're a little better than the other humans so you should probably give them another chance."

[–] grue@lemmy.world 7 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

Not against her will; she agreed to help during the mind meld (allegedly, according to Spock at least).

Plus unless Spock was deliberately concealing his thoughts from Gracy then she would have seen all his thoughts and memories too and would know that humans in the 23rd century are much more evolved emotionally and socially than in the 20th.

"Holy crap, you DIED?"

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

Spock: A̶r̵e̴ ý̵̢o̵͉̊ṷ̴͂ s̵͇̜͂u̴̯̹͠r̸̰̫̃ë̶̠?

According to serial mind-rapist Spock?

The way the prime timeline works is that this whale ends up having a key role in the standardization of Starfleet secuirty codes.

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 23 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

yeah bro, they're in Cetacean Ops

[–] wjrii@lemmy.world 13 points 10 hours ago

Why do you think Starfleet had to set that up in the first place? You think they WANT a huge network of oversized saltwater-flooded Jeffries tubes running alongside the constantly infiltrated and poorly electrically insulated normal ones?

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 3 points 11 hours ago

Just use the whale to find the cure for Nerve Attenuation Syndrome.
