I'm posting with one. I like it so far. waiting for the official lineageOS to be released, I'm running unofficial now.
Why not use /e/?
I'm just really used to lineage, I've used it for years on a lot of phones.
When will it support GrapheneOS? I'm going to keep using last-gen used Pixels until another company comes up with an alternative.
GrapheneOS has some very strict requirements which basically means they will refuse to support anything except Pixel phones. Fairphone isn't in the business of making their own (security) chips so I doubt the Graphene team will ever consider them.
CalyxOS, arguably the next best thing, did have support for earlier Fairphones but that project is sort of in limbo now.
The Graphene team has also been very outspoken about how much they dislike Fairphone for this very reason.
I use /e/OS on my Fairphone 5. It's not a Graphene alternative as it's not a hardened OS, it's just Android without Google. Good enough for me, I'm not afraid of secret agents stealing my phone to extract data or whatever, I just don't want American big tech anywhere near my phone.
Yeah, I ran Calyx for a while - it was... not a great user experience. If I am forced to change at some point, I'll reconsider it. That said, Graphene's trying to move off of the Pixel platform. I just haven't looked to see if there are any updates since that piece of info reached me.

I'm coming at the same desire from the other end, using my fairphone until I can jump ship for graphene.

This fixation on jack truly weirds me out. It's not a good connector, at all, I am actually happy we finally got rid of it. I always had to plug it with something so it doesn't accumulate all the dust and dirt.
Does the USB C truly not address this issue? That's what head phones have now.
I don't miss people asking me why they can't plug in headphones and I check and theres like a ball bearing or some other stupid shit in there.

I don't really see why it's such a dealbreaker for so many. Hardly any phones have 3.5mm, and for those that don't, you can just put a dongle on the end of your existing wired headphones.
Because it's ubiquitous, allows headphones without needing charged, and allows movement around the jack as opposed to the USB c port.
It's a great design and the best part is that if it's included it doesn't preclude anyone from using Bluetooth headphones if they so choose.
I understand why some people have use for the 3.5 mm jack, what I don't understand is why in the world you would ever let that be the one thing that stops you from choosing an otherwise great phone.
You are artificially limiting your choice to an extreme degree over a feature that only a microscopic minority of people care about, and one that you can easily get over by either using a dongle or usb-c headphones.
The only thing you can't do is charge the device while using said headphones (unless they have wireless charging but let's assume they don't), but even then phones charge so fast to 50% these days that I never found this to be an actual problem. Unless you're listening to music non-stop for like 10 hours straight, but that seems unlikely.
It just feels so absurd to me that people hammer on and on about how this is an insurmountable deal breaker. I happily use my wired IEMs with my Pixel phone every day and never once have I felt like I'm losing out on anything.
Bluetooth still can't use HiFi audio either.
To me, not buying a phone without a 3.5mm is the way I get my voice heard. I am voting with my wallet against taking away features.
I do not care that I am a minority, and that most people are happy to use Bluetooth.
I have very good headphones and I do not want to think about charging them and I do not want to fiddle with dongles that I have to pay for either.
No 3.5, no buy. Period.
I guess you do you. But it just sounds like you're yelling at clouds to me when you could just have gotten over this by now. I've been using wired headphones with my usb-c port for years with no problem (phone about to hit 4 years, same dongle I've had for like 6 years, daily listening).
I cannot imagine hampering my phone choices to this degree (basically excluding like 90% of phones) just for a statement that will make no difference since the majority of people don't even use wired headphones (so I'm a minority there since I do use wired, I've just learned that using a dongle is totally fine).
I've been using a dongle with my phone for almost two years. Now, every time I charge it, I have to find a "sweet spot" where it actually works and be careful not to move the cable around or it'll stop charging.
Exactly this. All of those adapters from USB-c to 3.5 are ass no matter how many people try to say to just use them.
Give me a thicker, heavier phone if you have to, just give me the damn headphone jack.
Have you tried cleaning the plug? I find this happens a lot with debris etc.

Yeah, I think we're past that point now. I know the Clicks Communicator has a 3.5mm jack but I really don't see why. If anyone is thinking about fitting an extra port on their phone I'd sooner see a second USB-C jack.
