I disagree. Cables are annoying, especially with something I have to wear on my head. My last headset broke after the cable kept getting tangled. And it wasn't made to be repairable.

Though a second USB port would be fantastic

If you're willing to pay money then Kagi is a great alternative. They claim they don't collect or share your data. Though, Kagi isn't very good for local search results and probably never will be.
