It's the Unown alphabet from Pokémon. In an effort to get Japanese schoolchildren to learn the Latin alphabet, Game Freak included a new Pokémon in Gen2 (Gold/Silver/Crystal) with 28 different forms in a mysterious part of the Johto map called 'the Ruins of Alph'. To the surprise of their parents, these kids started acing their English classes because they had to figure out how many Unown forms they had left to catch so they could fill their Pokédexes.

I grew up playing as an English-speaker, but I still hunted every last one of those fuckers long enough I can still read Unown. In fact, some trolls on the global battle net will still have teams of Unown that spell out slurs, curses, or memes.
