Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Someone needs to check his hard drives. When they go that extreme it’s to distract/hide something vile.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 31 points 3 weeks ago

Oh, 100% this.

Someone this performative usually has many skeletons in their closet.

[–] gustofwind@lemmy.world 20 points 3 weeks ago

It’s always the people you most suspect (and who these idiots least expect go figure)

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 3 weeks ago

Every time.

This comment is going to be banned, and I don't care: GOP candidate himself deserves to be executed. This world has no place for bigotry like this, and the world would be a lot better without the likes of him.

This isn't reddit ,take my upvote

.world at least in the past has nuked entire threads because of comments could be construed as promoting or celebrating violence (because they were celebrating the death of a certain healthcare ceo by bullets). Maybe it was just one trigger happy mod.

[–] atropa@piefed.social 8 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

we have heard about his story here in europe , I hope that Luigi gets off easy

[–] SayJess@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 3 weeks ago

He ought to, since he was with me in a country bumpkin bar in Wyoming for the entire week that this event supposedly happened. Maybe after he is acquitted, they can find the real perpetrator!

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 weeks ago

Maybe it was just one trigger happy mod.

I got hit with the ban hammer once for saying "justice should be done." Another time, for saying "let nature take its course." Then there was the ban I got for advocating violence because I'd made a comment about running out of pins for my Trump voodoo doll.

Their mods are on a hair trigger, but only if your political orientation is not fascist. It was all about malicious selective enforcement and vague, convoluted pretexts. So I used a script to edit every single post I ever made, replacing their content with lorem ipsum, and walked away almost three years ago. Fuck 'em.

We all deserve to be put out of his misery 😇

[–] MuskyMelon@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Tennessee state Rep. Monty Fritts (R), who is running for governor

It's fucked up that he's already an elected official

[–] SayJess@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 3 weeks ago

It’s Tennessee, what do you expect?

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 2 points 3 weeks ago

If I was writing a sitcom, I wouldn't name a character Monty Fritts because it sounds so implausible, even for a sitcom.

[–] Hathaway@lemmy.zip 25 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (2 children)

How about we execute politicians that fuck kids?

[–] BetaBlake@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago

No but that's different, you just don't get it

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works -1 points 3 weeks ago

The last 3 words in your sentence are unnecessary.

[–] CallMeButtLove@lemmy.world 18 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (2 children)

Just for fun I looked up his stance on gun control. Seems like he wants to do everything he can to stop any kind of initiative there.

So for anyone keeping score: Gender affirming care = punishable by death

Kids getting shot = A-OKAY!

[–] Tryenjer@lemmy.world 8 points 3 weeks ago

He's against body autonomy so it's at least coherent.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 weeks ago

When Trump talked about parents sending kids to school and them coming back a different gender, my reaction was it's better than them coming back dead

[–] tanisnikana@lemmy.world 11 points 3 weeks ago

We will outlive this desiccated ham sandwich.

[–] frustrated_phagocytosis@fedia.io 10 points 3 weeks ago

Politicians who clamor for the death penalty should be used to test out more humane methods of execution. When one of them can report back on their experience, we'll stop. Until then, nobody gets death penalty.

[–] BetaBlake@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago
[–] Rhoeri@piefed.world 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Oh he’s trying to fast-track his way to the top it seems.

[–] atropa@piefed.social 3 points 3 weeks ago

Of the hit list

[–] Sprocketfree@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 weeks ago

Ughhh I just assumed this was some random nut... But no, it's a state representative. WTF is wrong with people that vote for this garbage.

[–] MrSulu@lemmy.ml 3 points 3 weeks ago

Stupidity and evil combined and calling for human sacrifices.

[–] MuskyMelon@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

Montgomery Fritts can go fry himself.

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

And now when he dies I will think the world is a better place without him in it.
