This is pathetic.

The American government is a joke to let this keep happening.

He should be impeached and charged for violating his oath.

He won’t be, but he should be. I don’t think he’ll ever face any consequences, and if he must his master Satan will pluck him from his mortal coil to collect on his debt.

[–] Rothe@piefed.social 27 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

He should be impeached and charged for violating his oath.

By who? Everybody who is in a position to impeach him are his corruption buddies.

[–] Valthorn@feddit.nu 6 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

This is where the second amendment comes into play.

[–] Rothe@piefed.social 9 points 4 weeks ago

It has only ever served to protect tyrants. There is a reason it was right wingers who imagined the particular modern interpretation of the amendment to mean what people believe it means today.

[–] wheezy@lemmy.ml 19 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago) (1 children)

The only thing pathetic at this point is that all Americans aren't going full hostile takeover.

I am an American. I know the frustration of people that care. So this isn't directed at your comment specifically. I feel and understand your frustration and doomerism in "nothing will happen". But, nothing will happen because YOU and I aren't doing anything.

We're seeing a massive opportunity right now for people that don't usually pay attention to actually pay attention. I've been at this for awhile. I had the same feeling before.

But right now the "wine mom's" are talking about a need for reconstructing our entire system.

We are far far behind in the organization that we need to enact real change. The flame of frustration is AHEAD of the actual organized efforts. Many are just sitting in wait.

You (anyone reading this) and I. We can't sit in wait. We are the ones that should have been prepared for this opportunity.

If you're not going to a meeting (in person) in your community to organize against ICE or work for resistance, well, you need to. DSA, PSL, your local immigrant rights organizations, etc. You need to get connected NOW.

If all you do is donate some whistles or give a ride to someone that needed it. YOU did something! Do one thing and start there.

Individual attitude is keeping leftist in wait. Our collective minimal effort is much more powerful than anything else. And that minimal effort is addicting. It's will bring you to even more. It's everything you've been looking for that has been missing. There is no better mental health therapy than the feeling of solidarity.

But, nothing will happen because YOU and I aren’t doing anything.

True dat. Only we can help us.

Based on the most recent special-election results, we should* see the Dems leave the 2026 mid-terms with 250+ house seats and a slight majority (50-55 range) in the senate.

Enough to impeach the orange turd - but not enough to convict, without some of the more moderate reps growing a spine.

* rough estimates based on a ~25 point swing in urban and suburban districts, and a ~15 point swing in rural seats towards the Dems from the 2024 result.

Again, this is also based on the idea that Trump won’t somehow rat-fuck the US to the point of declaring martial law due to a perceived insurrectionist uprising, and trying to cancel the mid-terms altogether.

[–] WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world 5 points 4 weeks ago

Even a slight majority in the Senate will mean they can do a real trial there, something that didn't happen in the previous two impeachments.

It also means that if he's removed and Vance becomes President, his VP will have to be approved by a Democratic Senate.

[–] nieminen@lemmy.world 2 points 4 weeks ago

The shit he's pulling lately, getting voter rolls, admitting to the fact doge was just a way to steal data specifically for the started purpose of election interference, the midterms are either not going to happen, or be totally bogus

I'm paying a significant sum in taxes yet I'm not seeing the intelligence agencies do the right thing. What, no grassy enough knolls near Mar A Lardo? Buncha slackers.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 77 points 1 month ago (3 children)

He's still selling off the USA's secrets then.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 45 points 1 month ago

This is the guy that stole classified documents, put them in his white trash palace's bathroom and then refused to return them, and even now has the absolute balls to be salty about being raided to retrieve them. ( https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2024/may/23/donald-trump/fact-checking-trumps-false-claim-about-fbi-deadly/ )

And so the "they" is pretty much the entire government, and the "it" is just about anything Pedonald can dream up. He paid no penalty at all about his willful refusal to return classified documents he had no business having as a non-President.

[–] SanctimoniousApe@lemmings.world 4 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

He just did it - it usually takes ICE a few days to get around to their latest targets.

[–] Mirshe@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago

Why not? His friend Elon hacksawed out anything that might be considered oversight.

[–] realitista@lemmus.org 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

How else is a guy gonna make a buck?

[–] SanctimoniousApe@lemmings.world 6 points 1 month ago

There's no absolutely NO limit to the ways in which this asshole will "make" a buck.

[–] fizzle@quokk.au 48 points 1 month ago (3 children)

The most powerful person on the planet, also happens to be the most shamelessly corrupt.

LOL.

The way I see it, Trump will be dead long before the law holds him accountable for anything.

That said, is there any way any of the kids could get roped in to this?

[–] realitista@lemmus.org 34 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I hope they all get roped.

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 4 points 1 month ago

First fair and speedy trials, of course. Then as many ropes as are needed.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

I hope all of them go to prison. Jared, too, that little snake.

Pedonald has some weird sway over his cult; I don't know if any of his fanboiz and fangurlz have any special love for the rest of the crime family.

[–] pulsewidth@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

The Trump companies have been sued and lost dozens of times - and as figurehead and CEO of most of them I presume civil damages cases could wipe out a lot of the Trump family fortune. But, Trump has been working with the mob since the 80s and had Roy Cohn (mob laywer) as his personal laywer back then and for many years, so being career criminals (essentially a mob family), I'd not be surprised if most of the money and assets are carefully squirreled away in offshore accounts and trusts and whatnot.

Also given that the US is doing everything it can to pull apart legislative protections against the billionaires class, it would probably all be a major uphill battle without a sweeping change of government and an expansion of the supreme court.

[–] BananaIsABerry@lemmy.zip 24 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

"Hey! They can't do that! That's illegal!", we scream for the 2568th time since was elected for his 2nd term.

Maybe we should set age limits for presidency so that if something is ever done about all the crimes committed, they actually live long enough to be punished for them.

[–] ZombiFrancis@sh.itjust.works 2 points 4 weeks ago

Or: crimes are crimes and elected public office doesn't inherently require or extend any immunity to that.

[–] betterdeadthanreddit@lemmy.world 19 points 1 month ago

Or something.

[–] PizzaLamp25@lemmy.world 19 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

I mean who isn't bribing the orange narcissistic clown. Jfc I think I can throw a dart blind folded and get a correct answer.

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 6 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

I'm not.
I'll help crowdfund a guillotine for the child rapist, its family, and cronies though.

[–] PizzaLamp25@lemmy.world 1 points 4 weeks ago

Going to be a big crowd dude. Then they'll see how truly unpopular they all are

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

“Bribe what’s that!” “I’m already married!”

[–] slampisko@lemmy.world 9 points 4 weeks ago

You either die a predatory scumbag, or live long enough to see yourself become an internationally recognized predatory scumbag.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

And nothing is going to be done about it by the inept government and their uneducated racist goons. Let me know when it’s guillotine time

I don't think you can qualify any trump scandal as an "earthquake". Earthquakes move things around. USAians would still vote for trump.

/s

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 1 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago)

Yeah we know

Also, every other country, and billionaires

He will also still accept small donations of even a dollar from the proles! I have hundreds of texts of him begging me for donations, daily, often multiple times a day.

Some of the messages are like "My dad mentioned you yesterday" from Eric Trump. This is not a joke and I'm not exaggerating.

So, even proles can contribute! He won't actually do anything for you, though, sorry. I mean, what, ten dollars? What can you buy with ten dollars? A grocery? Come on.

[–] phtheven@lemmy.world 1 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

The UAE is not ruled by the Saudi Royal Family. That would be Saudi Arabia.

[–] realitista@lemmus.org 1 points 4 weeks ago

Good catch. Fixed.

[–] Rentlar@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 month ago

The most powerful person on the planet, also happens to be the most shamelessly corrupt.

He needs no shame either, as he has a subservient Supreme Court that is working overtime covering for him.
