The husband told MPR News that after his wife was taken into custody, he called his attorney, and soon after, he got a call from St. Peter Chief of Police Matt Grochow, whom he said he has known for years.
“I was talking to him, kind of venting some of my frustrations,” the man said, adding that he urged the chief to have his officers just be more visible during the federal enforcement actions. “If [local police] were present and they could see you, I promise you their behavior more than likely, or hopefully, would, you know, be appropriate and law abiding.”
The husband says he talked to the chief for a while and “we had a good conversation.”
“He asked me, ‘what was your wife's name’? I told him my wife's name. He said, ‘was she picked up in a bronco?’ And I said, ‘I'm not sure, but it was an SUV, dark colored. I'd have to look at my video.’ He goes, ‘I think I got her. I'll call you back’.”
Call me when they help someone besides a personal friend. Also, who the hell doesn’t know the make and model of the car their wife drives?
I think the question was what ICE shoved her into.

But I work in 911 dispatch, so I spend a good chunk of my night getting vehicle descriptions, you would be absolutely amazed at how many have no clue what kind of car they're driving themselves or can't even give a basic description
Me: What kind of vehicle is it?
Caller: I don't know, I'm not really a car-person.
Me: Can you tell if it's a sedan, an SUV, or a pickup truck?
Caller: I don't know, I just told you that I'm not a car-person!
Also a shocking number of people don't know their own address, phone number, what the nearest cross-street is to their house (or even the nearest major road or big intersection,) what municipality they live in (it may be different than the "city" part of their mailing address,) what the address is of their work, whether their car has power locks and power windows (and in fact what that even means,) whether their spouse has any important medical history, where water shut-offs are in their house, the difference between a smoke detector going off and giving a low-battery chirp, etc.
I’m gonna be generous and ascribe some of that to people not coping with stressful situations well, but I’m sure a lot of that is also just people who I’m amazed know how to put on their pants in the morning
Some of it is stress, but we get it just as much on the boring stuff too (we also handle a lot of the non emergency lines in my county) for things like a parking complaint where there's nothing urgent going on and the caller is cool as a cucumber, they're just completely clueless about anything I'm asking.
It's about time we see something like this. A line in the sand has finally been crossed

What's different about this particular story?
The dude was friends with the chief of police.
Yeah, don't mess with the wife of a guy who's friends with the chief of police.
Oh. That puts a damper on things. But it still could be the catalyst that makes more cops act against ICE.
One of the easiest ways for community law enforcement to improve relations with their community. This is a no-brainer.
Though I know many are complicit as those who often work forces burn crosses, etc.
Read the article guys.. the only reason the chief got involved was because the abducted woman was married to a good friend of said chief. The POLICE didn't save anyone, NEPOTISM did.

ah yes, "the female". a totally normal way of talking about your friend's wife.
The Police are ALLOWED to Uphold the Law? WHEN did this Change happen?
I was led to believe this would kick off a civil war.
The civil war never ended in 1865. It just went cold.
