I offer an alternative.

What to bring: thanos’ glove complete with infinity stones

What not to bring: Disney’s control over that IP

[–] VerilyFemme@lemmy.blahaj.zone 30 points 2 days ago

Alex Pretti was a nurse, literally there to adminster first aid if necessary. It feels like I've heard this attitude on another side of this debate before.

(Oh, and Alex Pretti didn't kill anyone.)

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The picture doesn't show a loaded handgun.

But okay, here's some Molotov cocktails instead you fucking bastards.

[–] AntiBullyRanger@ani.social 4 points 2 days ago

They are implying that it should be empty when you get stripped searched.

the worse part: it says “semi-auto”

[–] AdolfSchmitler@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

They are hypocrites can be ignored as such

[–] AntiBullyRanger@ani.social 4 points 2 days ago

Yeah, but this is admonishment of the recent anti arm rhetorics I have seen on threadiverse. Every anti arm person you have read is probably a Nazi, and should be skeptically rebuked.

I have dealt with 4 already.

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Guess I really understand why they keep focusing on phrases like fully loaded. Why wouldn't my gun be fully loaded?

[–] AntiBullyRanger@ani.social 1 points 1 day ago

Rhetorics: “You mean to fire all 12 rounds to kill 11 more people‽”

[–] hperrin@lemmy.ca 70 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Wow. Republicans sure gave up the second amendment really fast. I figured that one would take a little longer.

I love all the anti-gun rhetoric still and how an armed populace can do "nothing" against the US Military. My question is then to them, why do authoritarians always take away guns then if against a military they're "useless."

[–] hovercat@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The best part is how many of them are using the exact same language that they (rightfully) complained about people using to try and sensationalize and fear monger other cases of civilian firearm ownership. "Oh, it was semi-automatic! (like literally every handgun in existence) And had dozens of rounds (like any modern handgun).

Exact same fucking shit as people would use to bitch and sensationalize other incidents, but in this case Alex Pretti wasn't a fucking mass murderer. They'll complain about the media calling the gun a mass child murderer uses an "assault weapon", but the moment someone actually exercises their 2nd Amendment rights properly, suddenly they're happily repeat the same shit because it benefits them.

Likewise, while I appreciate a lot of people waking up to it, it's frustrating how many people on "the left" (liberal Dems mostly) who were unbelievably ignorant about firearms and were vehemently opposed to any amount of private firearm ownership, suddenly caring about the 2nd Amendment and parroting off "shall not be infringed", as I feel like it's not a principled stance and they're just saying it because it's "their side" now. If they're actually realizing it's kinda important, good for them, but it's still frustrating how many people care solely because it's "their side"

I’ve been a leftist gun owner for about ten years now, and I’m happy to see people on my side coming over. I still think it should be limited to well organized militias (like it says in the constitution), but that would still let states defend themselves from the federal government.

Half of that list is for not-peaceful protests.

And btw, police in fighting gear posing with a gun, is not for peaceful protests either.

[–] apftwb@lemmy.world 48 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Why would MAGA suggest bringing water for tear gas to a peaceful protest 🤔

[–] eatCasserole@lemmy.world 29 points 3 days ago

And first aid supplies 🤔

[–] FatVegan@leminal.space 18 points 3 days ago (1 children)
[–] Phil_in_here@lemmy.ca 12 points 3 days ago (2 children)

And a bit of cash for the nice ICE men to find when they're done with you.

[–] Doubleohdonut@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Don't forget a glass of sherry, a mince pie and a carrot for the reindeer

And a succulent chinese meal.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

Don't you know that arresting officer is a tipped position in America‽

Do not bring your ID

Also, I love that they're just acknowledging peaceful protests involve getting pepper sprayed nowadays

[–] stickly@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

What's the logic with no ID? Biometric ID and surveillance data is advanced enough that you will get ID'd if you're arrested/kidnapped anyway.

[–] AntiBullyRanger@ani.social 1 points 1 day ago

Nazi Rhet: “We need to identify how to kill’em: point blank, in a Porta-Potty, or in our deathcamp”

If it's a native born caucasian, they choose the last option, even if they failed that thrice already.

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Bring your ID, DONT bring your phone, or Fitbit/smart watch. DONT get caught.

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 32 points 3 days ago (1 children)

What about "muh ammenment"?

[–] zikzak025@lemmy.world 14 points 3 days ago

Guns for me but not for thee

[–] lemmydripzdotz456@lemmy.world 30 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Do bring a gun. Don't bring an ID. Do wear a mask. Don't miss.

[–] Zorsith@lemmy.blahaj.zone 28 points 3 days ago

Don't bring a phone.

[–] DaddleDew@lemmy.world 25 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

They pepper sprayed him, tackled him, piled on him, beat him up and possibly executed him long before they even knew he had a gun.

Meanwhile the ICE goons left alone the peaceful protests that were guarded by openly armed Black Panther members. Makes you think.

[–] NoTagBacks@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Almost like the gun laws in Cali were made specifically with the Black Panthers in mind or something.

Almost like most gun laws enacted have been reactionary and racist.

[–] TribblesBestFriend@startrek.website 16 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

So semi 9mm automatic is a no, it must means that fully loaded battle rifle is OK ?

[–] officermike@lemmy.world 21 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Yes, as evidenced by the verdict and right-wing swooning in Kyle Rittenhouse's case.

Tap for spoilerI love that’s the first picture when I search for his name

[–] Ilovethebomb@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 days ago

A big part of that is Rittenhouse wasn't attacked by the police.

[–] Grilipper54@sh.itjust.works -2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

A lot of people were mad at me when that trial went on with Rittenhouse because I believed the footage pretty clearly proved self defense. He was an idiot asking for trouble but it was self defense. Now with Renee and Alex, anybody who believes ICE was acting in self defense is out of their damn mind.

[–] BeardededSquidward@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It was a sham of a trial. Rittenhouse should never have been there to begin with and threw away the first tenant of self defense by GOING somewhere that would possibly be dangerous.

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

True, but by law that isn't illegal. It's the intent that made what he did illegal.

[–] lennybird@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

Surely Rittenhouse will say this is hypocritical, right...!?

[–] I_am_10_squirrels@beehaw.org 5 points 3 days ago

Bring your ID, your phone, your smartwatch, and every other connected device you own. They would love to know who you are.

[–] Fermion@mander.xyz 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)
[–] AntiBullyRanger@ani.social 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

As in you need this rephrased, or your honest reaction?

[–] Fermion@mander.xyz 7 points 3 days ago (2 children)

It's a double entendre because firstly this is absurd, and also a vague reference to how when Trumps insurrectionists show up with guns they just get pardoned instead of executed.

I'll admit it's a bit of a stretch as far as jokes go.

[–] AntiBullyRanger@ani.social 4 points 3 days ago

😯🙇‍♀️

[–] doingthestuff@lemy.lol 1 points 3 days ago

They only found three civilians with guns on Jan 6th and the one woman who got killed didn't have one. I get what you're saying though.

I would say that you probably don't want to bring a gun to a protest if you're going to break the law. Even if you avoid being executed, you could face much harsher charges and lose your 2nd amendment rights. I carry but I'm also very aware of laws where I do.

[–] Valmond@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 days ago

You're still at peaceful protests eh?
