Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.

MODERATORS

So we've gone up from 4th Amendment violations to the 5th Amendment. Soon it'll be 6th, and the 13th is a little shaky.

"Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable." -JFK

This shit will happen every day from now on until something is done about it- and complaining doesn’t seem to be the solve.

[–] mirshafie@europe.pub 14 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

I hate to admit this but I'm terrified to go beyond complaining. I don't want to have to fight these fucking ghouls. But I guess the pool of options is evaporating.

[–] Rivalarrival@lemmy.today 6 points 3 hours ago

Don't fight these ghouls. They are a symptom; oligarchs are the disease.

I feel ya. But doing noting hasn’t really moved the needle much. Complacency teaches repetition.

Not answering debate bate.

[–] Butterphinger@lemmy.zip 1 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago) (1 children)

Maybe we should twerk in the street some more and keep begging Democrats.

/s for fuck's sake.

[–] MiddleAgesModem@lemmy.world 3 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

You can't beg Democrats because you handed the government to Republicans, again.

[–] the_crotch@sh.itjust.works -1 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

Yeah, who wouldn't get super motivated to go out and vote for "we are terrible but we could be worse"

[–] LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.world 3 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Option 1: They invade cities

Option 2: They don't invade the cities

Option 3: Don't give a fuck about the people in the cities <- This is the option you are supporting here

[–] the_crotch@sh.itjust.works 3 points 4 hours ago

You just rephrased "we are terrible but could be worse".

[–] timbuck2themoon@sh.itjust.works 1 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Imagine being so daft that you aren't voting as a civic duty, let alone against fascism.

By not doing that you ensure that more drastic measures HAVE to be taken later on. Great job non voters.

[–] the_crotch@sh.itjust.works 3 points 4 hours ago

I didn't say whether I voted or not. I said the Democrats messaging wasn't exactly the stuff of inspiration.

[–] saimen@feddit.org 66 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

You're constitution is worthless when you have an executive branch that doesn't care about it while having an overly loyal majority support of the legislative and judicative branch.

[–] TranscendentalEmpire@lemmy.today 13 points 11 hours ago (8 children)

It also takes complicity from the "opposition" party. Even with the loyalty of the legislative and judicial branch their actions should be moderated by the balancing quality in the Democratic process of "turn around is fair play".

Meaning that you don't want to do anything that gives grounds for your opposition to copy if they were to get into power. The problem being that the DNC has shown itself to not have a spine, equating tit for tat politics as beneath their dignity.

If any group has zero rights, all it takes to remove anyone's rights is attaching them to that group.

If they don't obey laws neither should we

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 48 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

So, if we ignore that 4th amendment violation and note how often this administration violated the 1st amendment, I will note that 1 + 5 + 6 + 13 = a 25th amendment solution.

You can't argue that math! (Literally, it can't be argued with!)

[–] Soulphite@reddthat.com 12 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

I won't argue with you on that math.. but unfortunately the pedophile certainly can argue against the 25th... he is unfortunately livid enough to deny it.

[–] ulkesh@piefed.social 12 points 12 hours ago (4 children)

Livid, or lucid?

Either way, there isn't anyone in the executive with a spine, so the 25th is never going to happen, anyway.

The only way the fascist pedo will be removed is via impeachment and force, or on Jan 20, 2029, but again likely by force. And the only way impeachment would happen is if Dems get a majority in the House (could happen) and exceed 2/3 majority in the Senate which is unlikely to happen.

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 7 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

There is another way. God has the final veto on his performance, after all. Perhaps He will send His Last Cheeseburger soon, to redeem us all.

[–] dohpaz42@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago

God

That has as much likelihood of existing (and caring) about as much as there being a next (fair) election.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 6 points 12 hours ago
[–] Soulphite@reddthat.com 3 points 11 hours ago

Ah yes lucid. Im too livid to be lucid enough to use correct terminology. Thanks.

[–] disregardable@lemmy.zip 26 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

In my local jail, it can take up to a week to be able to call someone but typically more like 3 days. This is because the phones in the holding cells are often broken, so you need to wait until after bail is set and you go upstairs, and then they charge money to make the calls. Meaning, if you don't have an account already set up, you're going to have to wait until someone is willing to show you how to set it up.

[–] Sunflier@lemmy.world 18 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

When someone requests an attorney, all questioning stops dead. If they continue on, it becomes fruit of the poisonous tree.

[–] NuXCOM_90Percent@lemmy.zip 17 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago)

Believe it or not but most cops aren't as virtuous as Stabler and don't have a pretty blonde DA around to challenge them over what they would be willing to do to seek justice. And a "good" attorney can often work around that.

But also, that doesn't change anything. From skimming the article, it sounds like he wasn't being interrogated without a lawyer. He was just being left to languish in confinement. Which... is how the us legal system "works".

This is less "ice are bad" and more "all cops are bastards"

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 4 points 11 hours ago

If they continue on, it becomes fruit of the poisonous tree.

so just shoot them or strangle them in holding. That's what is going on.

Due process schmoo fawcess. Who needs it, right? 🙃

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 7 points 11 hours ago

Why even talk about any constitution when your government doesn't care about any laws?
