/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. Use spoiler tags in comments, and NSFW checkbox for posts.
This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

Patrick Stewart looks kinda different in this pic. Like some kind of hologram maybe. 🤔

9/10 emh's say a glass of wine before a glass of wine is good for your health.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I drink two wines before I drink two wines, and then I drink two more

[–] Prove_your_argument@piefed.social 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Just don't drink it for breakfast, right?

[–] Thebeardedsinglemalt@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Plot twist, I don't eat breakfast

It's always dinner time somewhere.

The 10th was recently featured on Joe Rogan's podcast. Dude is a real dick.

Me he as nice in real life as his face makes him look?

Yes, he is. A genuinely kind and friendly person in real life.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago

Gonna go with yes, why not.

Please state the nature of this wine’s bouquet.

[–] usernamefactory@lemmy.ca 10 points 2 days ago

Earthy, peaty… and I detect hints of lilac.

Sort of an oaky afterbirth

When did the Doctor add a sommelier subroutine?

[–] negativenull@piefed.world 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Might have been a prerequisite for the Opera subroutine

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

Nah it comes by default with the snobbery routine

[–] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

After he added the cab driving routines.

Easily the best part of Voyager. Beyond Tuvix.

[–] smeg@infosec.pub 6 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Tuvix's death makes the entire series A+. If Janeway had a choice between keeping Tuvix alive and getting home immediately, or killing Tuvix and having to slog through the entire Delta quadrant, then clearly the latter is the superior choice.

[–] teft@piefed.social 5 points 2 days ago

I heard half of Janeway's temporal violations were her going back just to kill Tuvix all over again.

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah but then neelix came back. If I was in an airlock with neelix serving food on the other side, I'd vent myself into space.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 1 points 10 hours ago

I'd be fine with anything he served as long as it didn't contain any leeola root. 🤷‍♂️

The sour mead seems quite tart?

Starfleet Academy suuuucks

[–] negativenull@piefed.world 11 points 2 days ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

What is the purpose of a comment like this in a trek fan community?

[–] minorkeys@lemmy.world 1 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

I'm a trek fan who is hurt by the latest show? Is this trek community not a place to share our experience of trek? Or is it cheerleading only here?

[–] negativenull@piefed.world 1 points 10 hours ago

Nobody is required to like any new Trek shows. People have been discussing it already, and many dislike it. I don't really care if you like it or not.

The problem is a drive-by comment definitively stating it in this way, on a meme that has nothing really to do with Academy at all, reeks of toxicity. It's what plagues EVERY Discovery post here, and almost everywhere else on the internet. It's not productive, and discourages any post about those shows. Notice how there are virtually zero posts about Discovery or Picard here, and most elsewhere. The few times they come up, they are filled with flamewars and fighting and always turns toxic and unenjoyable.

You're not wrong, but Robert Picardo still is a well-respected actor and I hope he got compensated well for starring in that show.
