Conservatives are celebrating Donald Trump’s decision to dispatch border czar Tom Homan to Minnesota to oversee immigration enforcement operations in the Minneapolis area, in what was widely seen as an attempt to sideline Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.

Trump’s decision comes just two days after a Border Patrol agent shot and killed 37-year-old Alex Pretti in Minneapolis. While Noem subsequently claimed that Pretti had “arrived at the scene to inflict maximum damage on individuals and kill law enforcement,” footage of the incident contradicts her description of it.

On Sunday, conservative radio host Erick Erickson suggested that Pretti’s death and tense atmosphere in the Gopher State were attributable to Noem’s leadership.

“Darth Homan, you will go to planet Minneapolis in the Minnesota system. There you stay, until this rebel uprising is crushed. Do not fail me.”

Yes, my emperor. But what of Lord Noem’s campaign of public executions?

“She is as clumsy as she is stupid. You will maintain tight control of the imperial garrison there.”

Yes, my emperor. They will never see their rebellion crushed from the inside!

The first thing you have to understand about conservatives is that they are incapable of making responsible decisions.

They always move from one bad actor to another when the first bad actor becomes too much of a liability to their cause.

After Bush Jr they acted like they never knew the guy then moved on to a convicted felon, adjudicated rapist, probable pedophile, and traitor.

After Bush Jr they acted like they never knew the guy

Yup. They keep trying to retcon Bush out of existence. Even though ICE was formed under his administration.

That conservatism is an inherently reactionary ideology dedicated to entrenching the status quo and reversing the hard gains made towards a more free, open, and fair society.

I guess if you can't send Hitler you send Goebbels

[–] gAlienLifeform@lemmy.world 21 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

I wonder if the FBI had to give him another $50k in cash to get him to say yes to this

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 18 points 6 hours ago

I still have to laugh at how Blondi pretends to be so offended at being asked about where that 50K is even at.

All of these conservatives are evil and corrupt pieces of shit.

[–] Biffsbraincell@lemmy.zip 7 points 5 hours ago

Maybe we can start a crowdfund to bribe Homan to pull the troops out. 50k or so?

If he's an adult and in Trump's cabinet he should be utilizing the 25 amendment, just like everyone in Biden's admin and Trump's first one should have.

We haven't had a single adult in any presidential administration for a decade now, and it's showing.

Just grifters who want to amass as much wealth from bribes as possible.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 10 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Equating Biden and Trump is just bonkers.

[–] andyburke@fedia.io 2 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

It's not. They are both very old relics.

Completely opposite in many ways, but regarding criteria for the 25th? They are very, very similar and this problem exists throughout our government.

If you want to know why it's a problem: a representative government should roughly reflect population demographics. I will leave it as an exercise for the reader to compare the US federal government to its constituency.

[–] III@lemmy.world 0 points 1 hour ago

but regarding criteria for the 25th

Please list for me the comparable criteria other than just age.

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 15 points 6 hours ago

Homan is an escalation.

[–] thagoat@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 6 hours ago

Didn't take long to go from murdering dogs to murdering humans.

Lock her up!

[–] tonytins@pawb.social 11 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

And a complete change of tone now that it's a man who was shot.

[–] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 25 points 6 hours ago

A VA ICU nurse, union member, and legal gun owner. He was practically an all American hero.

[–] LordMayor@piefed.social 20 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

White man legally carrying a gun.

ICE now has the attention of Gun Owners of America and probably half the armed militias in the USA.

The sleepy NRA actually woke, briefly, from their slumber to make comment on this matter.
