Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). 4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.

How bout you do your fucking jobs and impeach and remove the whole lot?

[–] kescusay@lemmy.world 27 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

In order to get there, they need to recognize the fact that if they make themselves a disposable rubber-stamp for everything a dictator does, inevitably the dictator realizes he doesn't even need them anymore and disposes of them.

I hope they are at the point of realization, but I have doubts.

He's made himself king already. The "opposition" in government is performative at this point.

He made himself "chairman for life" on his Board of Peace. He will not give up power. He will get MAGA to declare civil war before he ever steps down.

"The redhats are coming! The redhats are coming! ... on their rascal scooters..."

I know that's a revolutionary war reference, but it will work for this modern Civil War 2.0

"He should consider withdrawing the ICE agents."

Fuck off already, you useless scumbags! YOU ARE A CO-EQUAL BRANCH OF THE GODDAMN GOVERNMENT! YOU AREN'T SUPPOSED TO GIVE FANCY, POINTLESS SPEECHES AND BOOTLICK AND BEG FOR THE PRESIDENT TO DO THINGS YOU EXPLICITLY HAVE THE ABILITY TO CONTROL!

In fact, Pretti possessed a lawful permit to carry a concealed weapon, and widely-scrutinized video has shown that he was disarmed before federal agents fired 10 shots at him as he was restrained.

If they knew he had a gun, they wouldn't have escalated to beating him.

Once they knew he had a gun, they all assumed he would use it at the first chance to defend himself with deadly force...

I've been saying it for over a year now: a CCW doesn't cut it at a protest, because it's not a visual deterrent and the second it becomes one you just brandished it at a federal agent.

A rifle is out and in your hands as normal carry, it's not brandishing and especially when there's more than one it is a visual deterrent that will prevent beatings, spraying, and other attacks.

Nothing concealed about it, hands on the table.

And in Minnesota if you have a handgun permit, you defacto have a rifle permit. In fact, it's the only permit you can get, CCW/open pistol/rifle, all the same permit.

Concealed carry is demonstrably more dangerous in every way for literally everyone. I honestly think it should be illegal to conceal carry, though I am not in favor of gun bans or the like.

CCW is fine and fills a role...

It's just not effective against state sponsored terrorism, unless shit is so bad you're best shot at surving an encounter with them is to shoot first.

And that's after open carrying with a rifle for visual deterrent results in them shooting first.

There's levels to this shit, we don't have to wing it like it's a brand new thing. Just not be ignorant of human history and how fascists act. None of this is new.

Edit for historical context:

The Liberator was a crude and clumsy weapon, never intended for front-line service. It was originally intended as an insurgency weapon to be mass-dropped behind enemy lines to resistance fighters in occupied territory. A resistance fighter was to recover the gun, sneak up on an Axis occupier, kill or incapacitate him, and retrieve his weapons.

It should be against the rules to post fluff pieces like this.

Unless Republicans are voting to impeach Trump and/or abolish ICE, Border Patrol and the DHS, then these articles are entirely meaningless.

It genuinely seems the "or else we'll right a strongly worded letter" meme genuinely fools people on the left when it's Republicans doing it against Trump.

Stop with this shit. It isn't news unless them breaking with Trump results in actual action. Anything less is both complacency and status quo

[–] Gerudo@lemmy.zip 8 points 11 hours ago

Maybe they shouldn't have just voted for more funds for ICE.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 8 points 11 hours ago

Member when trump staged a coup in a ridiculously inept attempt to hold on to power? And the republicans were all like “okay now that’s just too far, buddy” for like twenty minutes?

[–] devolution@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago

The GOP can sit on a spikey cactus and use it as an anal pleasure toy.
