The ongoing protests and images coming out of Minnesota have prompted concerns from some Trump administration officials over the optics of the immigration crackdown as Americans grow alarmed by the chaotic scenes unfolding in the state.

Donald Trump has expressed frustration behind closed doors that the immigration messaging is getting lost, sources familiar with the discussions told CNN. Trump has sought to take control of the narrative, starting with an impromptu press conference on the anniversary of his first year in office.

Oh. He’s concerned? Oh no!

Guys! He’s concerned!

[–] whyNotSquirrel@sh.itjust.works 24 points 1 week ago

Is he? Doubt.

[–] deHaga@feddit.uk 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

He's only concerned that the reality show he's creating has taken the attention off him

[–] Soulphite@reddthat.com 8 points 1 week ago

Except for the Epstein stuff.

[–] TehWorld@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

He’s concerned about the FUCKING OPTICS. not about the murders, or brutality or illegal activity. This is such a bullshit story.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Nope, turns out he was just shitting his pants again.

[–] RedstoneValley@sh.itjust.works 37 points 1 week ago (2 children)

That's a dumb and misleading take on the situation. While Trump himself is just a rambling, demented egomaniac it's going very well for the horse whisperers in the background. Inciting violence to enable the administration to justify even more atrocious acts in the process is part of a strategy. This is done deliberately to dismantle the US institutions and to build a new order out of the rubble. It's now carried out in the open for everyone to witness and it's a classic playbook of fascists everywhere in the world. Trump is just the ugly face of that, it does not matter much what he thinks or if his ego is hurt, as long as the people in the background manage to keep him under control.

[–] hateisreality@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

He's just upset that he shit himself again and Miller won't let him play with his dolls

[–] sik0fewl@piefed.ca 1 points 1 week ago

Apparently Trump is too dumb to understand the actual plan he is executing.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 29 points 1 week ago

This just in...Big Media supports Trump again, showing him to have feelings. Fuck the complicit big media. All of them. This is a world where honourable renegade independent journalists are needed. I'd rather have the ugly truth than to continue to be shunted down the cattle chute by a selfish madman.

[–] Soulphite@reddthat.com 29 points 1 week ago

Well, some advice I took to heart from a lawyer, Mr. Fletcher, growing up that I still follow today... "STOP BREAKING THE LAW, ASSHOLE!"

[–] flandish@lemmy.world 21 points 1 week ago (2 children)

maybe his message should not be that of a genocidal nazi.

[–] MrVilliam@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 week ago

Idk, if he were just a little more of a genocidal Nazi, then maybe he'd kill himself in a bunker like his hero did. That's a policy decision I'd be on board with. C'mon, trump! Get those approval numbers up!

As terrible as Hitler was, he at least had a dog. This fascist couldn't even be bothered to get a pet he pretended to like for PR purposes. Even a piece of shit like noem had a dog.

Well, he's studied hard and read one book to get all his ideas. Heard he keeps it on his nightstand. Unfortunately it taught him the exact opposite lesson, and reading a second book is asking too much.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Aw, did this give him a moment of "frustration"? So sad.

Also: what is the "messaging"?

Stupid dipshits like "JD" "Vance" and Miller seem to have a message of white supremacy, even as "JD" is married to someone non-white and has non-white kids and Miller is Jewish? I mean, the messaging of white supremacy is already extremely stupid, but if you want to talk about a muddled message, they certainly seem to be great at delivering it.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 7 points 1 week ago

even as “JD” is married to someone non-white and has non-white kids

To those people, wives and kids are property, and it's OK as long as the owner's white.

[–] JennyLaFae@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

"Rules for thee, not for me" part of how they signal power and status is breaking the rules they set for the plebeians.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

If any of these idiots learned anything from history, they would realize that doesn't hold for very long. They should see things like Night of the Long Knives and Jews for Hitler for reference...

[–] JennyLaFae@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 week ago

If Those Kids Could Read They'd Be Very Upset

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 15 points 1 week ago

Of course the message is lost, because it’s not about immigration. In fact everyone is exposing what the real message is. I can’t even parse this headline it’s so double speak.

[–] Wilco@lemmy.zip 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Maybe go to Texas or Florida where they have 3 to 5 times the illegals. Its not about immigrants, this is a test to see if they can get violent resistance. They need a "rebellion" before/during midterms.

[–] Snapz@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Don't use their language. These aren't "illegals". They are undocumented immigrants. That's in general, and specifically, the goons ate adapting, disappearing and killing American citizens and documented people, women and children, old people, quiet, hardworking people.

Your point about data not supporting any kind of presence in Minnesota versus Texas and Florida is true. But "Illegals", used in any context, only does work for the bad guys here.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago

Maybe don’t do chaos, huh.

Minnesota Nice? Fuck ICE!

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

He's frustrated? That's unfortunate. Who knows what that extra stress will do to the heart health of a man his age.....

Speaking purely from a physiological perspective, there has to be one. He's not Dick Cheney....

This looks like an apologist trying to take a bunch of lies at face value to make Mango Mussolini look good.

If he really cared, he would be doing background checks and vetting these people. He wouldn't have sent the national guard in at all. He would prosecute those breaking the law and murdering people.

He is trying to foment unrest so that he can use the Insurrection Act to shut down the mid term elections.

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago

At minimum he would fire Steven Miller.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

That is the most asinine point of view that is even possible to take on this whole fuckup.

More excellent work Conservative News Network!

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 week ago

This is turning into Kent State in every state, every day.

[–] Ghostie@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 week ago

Ah yes, because that’s what we need. Trump saying more stupid shit.

[–] collapse_already@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 week ago

Hopefully the frustration gives that fat fuck a heart attack.

[–] JamBandFan1996@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 week ago

I wonder why

[–] generichate1546@lemmynsfw.com 1 points 1 week ago

No it did not.... Stephen Miller is probably screaming like a lil fascist bitch
