We learn something new every day. This is a community dedicated to informing each other and helping to spread knowledge.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules (interactive)

Rule 1- All posts must begin with TIL. Linking to a source of info is optional, but highly recommended as it helps to spark discussion.

** Posts must be about an actual fact that you have learned, but it doesn't matter if you learned it today. See Rule 6 for all exceptions.**

Rule 2- Your post subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material.

Your post subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding non-TIL posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-TIL posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Just a reminder, as stated in the other duplicate posts in other communities where this was also posted, this image is AI.

This is a fabricated image that did not happen.

[–] LibertyLizard@slrpnk.net 28 points 3 weeks ago

But I want it to be real...

[–] morgan_423@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

Kind of figured, it has too many in-focus points at varying distance from the "camera." So it still has some uncanny valley in it.

That's how you get shot for brandishing what reasonably appeared to be a chainsaw.

Officer who shot the suspect - "I feared for my life because it was possible that the suspect concealed a bazooka in the leaf blower".

Officer who shot the suspect - "I feared for my life because it was possible the suspect was sitting down, calmy drinking a warm beverage".

I think this is worthwhile posting again as a "TIL that leaf blowers are a good way to defend against tear gas" when this post gets removed for falling fowl of rule 1.

Not really, they kinda work vs pepper spray but not super well and this image is AI.

[–] wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

kinda work vs no defense at all... you can go solo, but I'm bringing ol' blowy

[–] Warl0k3@lemmy.world 8 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

Or instead you could just bring an umbrella, which is much more effective at blocking pepper spray without billowing it onto your fellow protesters, obscures your identity and isn't a large, noisy, bulky object that only works if you're within 10' of the fash.

Leafblowers are useful, but only in coordination and even then they're less useful than carrying around a similar weight in water so you can douse teargas rounds.

*afoul

Also, yes. Absolutely.

[–] TheLeadenSea@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 weeks ago

I initially read that as Poland, I need to go to sleep

[–] Abundance114@lemmy.world 7 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

New legislation introduced in Washington to ban black assault leaf blowers

Paint them rainbow.

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 weeks ago

The vast majority of fascists are white, so that's not gonna be very effective. Carry on.

Fullface masks with cheap P3 filters will work fine against pepperspray (be sure to lose the filter after you get sprayed). You can get something good enough on AliExpress for like 30 bucks, from several "we have 3M at home" brands.

For CS/CN aka teargas deployed in wide-area use, you'll definitely want an active carbon filter. Note that those will work fine on your knockoff gasmask, but the fit of it will be much worse than a proper (150 dollar) mask, so you'll definitely get some tiny exposure. It gets worse if your face isn't that of a cleanshaven white male. Note that activated carbon has a limited lifespan, whether in use or not. Technically you'll want RCA filter canisters, but those aren't in most stores.

"I thought it was a bazooka so I started blasting" -- ICEstapo

"Acquitted" -- fed judge

I'm with ya, but just understand the stakes. And get ready to return fire if they begin with the deadly force.

Also. Consider spraying this into the leaf blower:

It's at walmart.

Why did this need an ai generated image to go along with it I'm so sick of seeing ai everywhere

[–] athatet@lemmy.zip 3 points 3 weeks ago
[–] roofuskit@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

Watered down pepto or milk of magnesia is great for flushing eyes after exposure to tear gas or pepper spray. I see lots of people using straight water.

[–] Decoy321@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

op, I'm removing this because it's not in the usual TIL format.

I would also prefer if you simply write the text from the image. Just so I don't get so many reports from whiny bitches complaining about ai slop. They clearly weren't around for the era of "this is Photoshop, I can tell by the pixels".
