I have a bath every night, no matter the weather. 30 mins reading my current book before washing and shaving. I have a bath thermometer and keep the temperature at 43.5 degrees c. Usually some muscle relaxing herbal bath salts. It's the best part of the day. Pure bliss.

I love baths, but didn't have one for years. I just don't fit into regular sized tubs :(

[–] Zoop@beehaw.org 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, same here. :( Which extra sucks because I'm disabled and have chronic pain, and a nice bath helped with some of it. But I'm just too long! & 'cause of the aforementioned disabilities, I can't afford a place with a suitable tub. Buuut it's better than being homeless, so I can't complain too much, haha!

I feel for you, and I hope you're able to work out a proper tub situation that works for you soon! :)

[–] illi@piefed.social 1 points 3 months ago

That sucks, sorry to hear that.

Yeah, it is question of finances mostly. Couldn't really justify remaking a perfectly functional bathroom just to fit in a bigger tub

It appears we have found President Taft’s Lemmy account .

[–] Thalion@lemmy.ca 11 points 3 months ago (1 children)

That seems disgustingly hot. I don't even keep my hottub at 40, and it's outside.

[–] Diddlydee@feddit.uk 5 points 3 months ago

I have a hot tub, and if it's any lower than 40 (a paltry max) I'm getting out. I add a few large pans of boiled water to my 40 degree tub.

[–] pineapple@lemmy.ml 11 points 3 months ago (1 children)

wastes too much water for me.

[–] ChristchurchAsshole@lemmy.ml 3 points 3 months ago

And the water keeps going cold so you have to use even more hot water. The only bath I'd ever use is the one at the wellness place in town. The freezing cold one. Though if it gets too hot I think I'll just chill water in the fridge and tip it over my head. I haven't tried that yet but it'll be a lot cooler than the water in the pipes on a hot day!

I dislike baths because I want to get clean as quickly as possible and get out. I'd much rather relax after I'm already clean and dry.

It’s a different sensation. I am a shower person. Have been for years but when it’s cold or you have extra aches it’s nice.

It’s not about being fast or getting clean it’s about stopping and letting your body marinate in bubbles and heat.

Each to their own!

[–] Cherry@piefed.social 6 points 3 months ago (1 children)

What’s your fav salt or soak? Would love some recommendations

[–] Diddlydee@feddit.uk 6 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

I buy random ones at farm shops and garden centers, and my fave was one called Fuzzy Duck (Bergamot, hemp, and sandalwood), but you can't go wrong with Radox Herbal Bath.

[–] Cherry@piefed.social 3 points 3 months ago

I do like those three ingredients. I love the right combination of the smell, not too many bubbles, and how it helps your muscles relax. But I’m trying to use more natural products, underconsume etc. Have you tried the green one made from chestnut’s…I think. It really nice.

I quite like some relaxing tunes or when it’s windy outside having the window open and hearing the noise. I find that very chilling.

I try to do twice a week but I literally spend hours. I don't try and keep the temp at anything in particular but I don't know what it is about my bathroom but I don't feel the temperature falls all that much. I do start out about as hot as I ca stand. Like I tip my to go oh. ah ha ah. and slowly get one foot in. then the other. then slowing lower down into it.

[–] moshankey@lemmy.world 5 points 3 months ago

I’m enjoying one now with lavender epsom salts. Cures what ails ya.

[–] Sadbutdru@sopuli.xyz 5 points 3 months ago

Yeah I love a bath. Especially when I feel I've really earned it, like exhausted after a day hillwalking, or manual labour outside in the rain or cold.

In an hotel, I could book a Jacuzzi for two hours for 10 euros. The default temperature was 38 degrees Celsius. It was a great experience!

There was even a sauna with a temperature of 95 degress! Highly recommended.

[–] sem@piefed.blahaj.zone 1 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

If you book a jacuzzi is no one else allowed in at that time? My public pool has a chlorinated hot tub anyone can use.

[–] GiorgioPerlasca@lemmy.ml 0 points 3 months ago (1 children)

There was nobody else when I got there, so I guess yes. In that case, they used salt instead of chlorine to ensure cleanness.

[–] sem@piefed.blahaj.zone 1 points 3 months ago

Someday I'd like to learn how saltwater pools work. The worst part about the public jacuzzi is they drain it only once a week.

[–] stylusmobilus@aussie.zone 3 points 3 months ago

Yeah me too. I have to bath, preferably twice a day

Wouldn't you like to know!

[–] kbobabob@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 months ago

If you live in a hot climate then just existing can get you kind of gross.

[–] ada@piefed.blahaj.zone 3 points 3 months ago

The birds in my back yard really seem to love a bath! More so than I do at any rate :)

[–] olafurp@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

I can relate, I'm a shower person and I just love watching an anime episode while showering.

[–] RebekahWSD@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago

Love a good hot bath! The cat also loves a good hot bath. She loves trying to grab my hand from the water with no care to her paws at all.

[–] Lumidaub@feddit.org 2 points 3 months ago

I can absolutely relate but bathing that often is bad for your skin. Might also affect your circulation in the long run. Mind you, daily showers aren't exactly the best thing you can do either (exceptions apply).

[–] GrantUsEyes@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 months ago

I've never had a bath but I enjoy a scorching hot shower, hotels provide the best experience in this regard. I want to feel like my water is being pumped directly from inferno.

[–] jrubal1462@mander.xyz 2 points 3 months ago

I hadn't done a bath in years, but at one point we were fixing some of the tile in our bath/shower. To minimize how much water got into the unprotected wall, we had to take baths for about a week.

It was inefficient for time, but maaaaan was it nice. I promised myself I wouldn't allow myself to lapse like that again. Unfortunately I don't think I've done a bath since.

[–] sem@piefed.blahaj.zone 1 points 3 months ago

Do you have a sit down bath or a lay down bath?

[–] Mantzy81@aussie.zone 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

You don't have kids do you? If you tried to do that with young kiddos they would join you, or if they've gone to bed already, you'd fall asleep in there instead.

Source: my wife loves baths and this is what happens every time!

[–] Diddlydee@feddit.uk 7 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

I have two kids, 3 and 10. This is my time, after they're in bed.

[–] beSyl@slrpnk.net 1 points 3 months ago

I take 1 bath every two weeks or so. I do scalding hot water and turn the heat on in the bathroom. Basically, I want it sauna-like. I then stay in the bath for 2 hours so.. It's amazing.

[–] manuallybreathing@lemmy.ml 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

When I ws a teenager, i told my first partner I liked taking a bath, they warned me about cooking my sperm, or similar, so ya know

I no longer have a bathtub, enjoy

[–] Lumidaub@feddit.org 2 points 3 months ago

And hopefully afterwards you learnt that you keep producing sperm, right? So even if you had a bath that was hot enough to kill off your current batch, you'd have them replenished shortly after.
